Gift giving is different from culture to culture and person to person.
When giving gifts, sometimes color is important. For example, for many Chinese people around the world, red is a lucky color, and people often like to pack gifts in this color. However, did you know that in Korea ,red is a color of death. That is why you should not pack gifts in this color if you are giving a gift to a Korean person.
What about western countries? In western countries, the color of packing paper is not really important. But color does matter when giving flowers, especially roses. You should not give red roses to a western person you don't know very well because they are a symbol (象征) of love. You could give yellow roses instead as these are a symbol of friendship. You could also send pink roses as gifts to say thank you.
What other things should you remember when giving gifts to someone from a different culture? Well, one thing you should keep in mind is the person’s religion (宗教).When choosing a gift for a Muslim (回教徒的)or Jewish (犹太族的)friend, you should never get food including pork or things made from pigskin.Another thing that you should not get for a Muslim person is alcohol(酒).
根据短文内容简要回答下列问题
In which country do people think red is the color of death?
How could we show our friendship to the western friends?
Can we give a Muslim friend a bottle of alcohol as a gift ?
How many colors are mentioned (提到) in this passage?

I would like to talk to you about one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. I was born and raised there and now I visit it from time to time. My family moved to the city, so I only go back to see friends or to camp and fish.
I grew up in a small town called Antonito Co. It is surrounded by mountains. So camping is a big source of happiness in the valley(山谷). There are so many beautiful places to hike.
The town itself is very small. It is said that if you blink (眨眼) when you’re going through it, you’ll miss it. This has some truth in it considering the size of the town. We have one grocery store (杂货店), a tiny post office , and a tiny bank. There are also a few gas stations, bars, some excellent restaurants, a small hospital and of course several schools. However, for clothing and shoes, you have to drive thirty miles to Alamosa to shop there.
Everyone in the town is nice and we all know each other. The crime rate (犯罪率) is zero unless you count some weekend fights that break out because some people drink too much. The classes in school are small, so you get a lot of attention from the teacher.
You’re probably wondering why I don’t live there. Well, I can’t get a job there. A lot of the businesses are family-owned. And they never fire (解雇) their employees (雇工). So the employees work there usually until they retire (退休). Most people have to go to other places to get a job.

When something goes wrong, it can be very satisfying to say, “Well, it’s so-and-so’s mistake.” or “I know I’m late, but it’s not my mistake; the bus was late.” It is probably not your mistake, but once you form the habit of blaming(责备) somebody or something else for a bad situation, you are a loser. You have no power and could do nothing that helps change the situation. However, you can have great power over what happens to you if you stop paying attention to whom to blame and start paying attention to how to improve the situation. This is the winner’s key to success.
Winners are great at overcoming(克服) problems. For example, if you were late because the bus was late, maybe you need to leave home early. Or, you might call a taxi or call friends for help when in need. For another example, if your workmate causes you problems on the job for short of responsibility(责任心) or ability, find ways of dealing with his irresponsibility or inability rather than simply blame the person. Ask to work with a different person, or leave this person with some simple jobs. You should accept that the person is not reliable(可靠的) and find creative ways to work successfully regardless of how your workmate fails to do his job well.
This is what being a winner is all about—creatively using your skills and talents so that you are successful no matter what happens. Winners don’t have fewer problems in their lives; they have just as many difficult situations to face as anybody else. They are just better at seeing those problems as challenges(挑战) and chances to develop their own talents. So, stop paying attention to “whose mistake it is.” Once you are confident about your power over bad situations, problems are just stepping stones for success.
According to the passage, winners .

A.have responsible and able workmates
B.meet with fewer difficulties in their lives
C.blame themselves rather than others
D.deal with problems rather than blame others

When your workmate brings about a problem, you should .

A.blame him for his lack of responsibility
B.find a better way to overcome the problem
C.tell him to find the cause of the problem
D.ask a more able workmate for help

When problems happen, winners take them as .

A.excuses for their mistakes
B.difficulties to greater power
C.chances for self-development
D.challenges to their workmates

Which of the following is the best title for the passage?

A.A Winner’s Secret B.A Winner’s Problem
C.A Winner’s Chance D.A Winner’s Achievement
