Last Saturday the student of our class made a bike trip to Furong, a small town by the Nanxi River. We set off earlier in the morning. After get to the town, we visited some places of interest. At noon, we had a picnic near the river. Everybody is attracted by the beautiful scenery but we took a lot pictures. In the afternoon, some of them went fishing, some flew kites, and the others rowed boats on the water. We both had a wonderful time! It was a pleasant trip for us, during which the boys were offered the girls a lot of help. We have learned to help, understanding and share with others.

As a senior three student, it won’t take long after I graduate. Now, I have much to share with my fellow student.
Firstly, I’d like to show my appreciation to those stand by me all the way, teachers, parents and friends included. Without their help and advice, my life will be different. Secondly, it’s high time for I to say sorry to the classmates whom I hurt or misunderstand. I firm believe that communication and smiles act as bridges to friendship. Thirdly, I’ve made up my mind to make every effort to study, so hard work is the key to a success. Finally I want to express my hope which all the younger fellows can make full use of time, because time and tide wait for no man.

Some day I happened to find a chatting room in my QQ, there people were chatting in English. I tried to chat with some of them. To my surprised, I found the oral English of some junior students were better than me. I asked them for advice and they told me to practise more on QQ. But every day after that I would spend one hour practise my oral English on QQ. Day by day I learned from many useful words and expressions. With time go by, I found that I could even communicate some college students freely.

Three years ago I failed a important exam in my life and became a student in an ordinary school. Disappointing as I felt at the shabby campus and the poorly-equipped classroom, we found the teachers patient and considerate. Besides, I enjoyed the friendly atmosphere on class. I decided to make best of it. I work hard and got along well with my teachers and classmates. Whenever I had difficulties, they were not helpful. Soon , I became one of the top student in my class, which greatly increased my confident and got me motivated.
My experience tells me that it is not what you are given but how you make use of it which determines who you are.

Ladies and gentlemen,
It is special pleasure to welcome our new staff member, Mr Tony White, who has come here to America.
Mr White has recently graduated from the University of Chicago where he has majored in English Literature and minored in Teaching English as the Second Language. He will working with us here for at least two years.
One of the goals of our school are to promote understanding and cooperation between the young people of our two countries. By have Mr White, who is willing to sacrifice the comfort of his friends and family to come to a strange country, we feel we are very lucky and our goals will be easily realized.
On behalf of the whole school, I’d like to extend to you, Mr White, your sincerest welcome. We are indeed happy to have you here, and we wish you all the better during your stay in China.
