A few months ago, I was picking up the children at school. Emily, another mother that I knew well, rushed up to me. She was full of .
“Do you know you and I are?” she asked. I could answer, she gave out the reason for her question. She had just returned from renewing her driver’s license at a government office. The woman desk asked her what her “occupation” was. Emily hesitated, how to answer it. “What I mean is,” explained the woman, “do you have a job, or are you just a ...?” “Of course I have a job,” answered Emily. “I’m a (an) .” “We don’t ‘mother’ as an occupation ... ‘housewife’ covers it,” she said.
I forgot all about her story one day I found myself in the same situation. This time it was at our own Town Hall. The clerk was a woman.
“And what is your occupation?” she asked. What me say it, I do not know. The words simply jumped out. “I’m ... a (an) in the field of Child Development and Human Relations.”
The clerk stopped, her ball-point pen in mid-air. She looked up she had not heard right. I repeated the title slowly.
“Might I ask,” said the clerk with new interest, “just what you do in your ?” Coolly, I heard myself , “I have a continuing program of research in the laboratory and in the field. I’m working for my masters (the whole family) and already have credits (令人增光的人或事物) (all daughters). I often work 14 hours a day (24 is more like it). The job is more challenging than most jobs and the are in satisfaction rather than just money.”
There was an increasing note of in the clerk’s voice as she in the form. As I drove into our driveway(私家车道), I was by my lab assistants — ages 13, 7, and 3. Inside the house I could hear our new experimental model (six months) in the child-development program.
I felt successful. Motherhood...what a great !.

Words came 54 back to me after all these years. When receiving something from someone, you don’t take it from their hand, rather you let them lay it in your hand. For me it was 55 ---The beautiful language of my childhood was Michif. It was not only a language but also a way of life.

At the beginning of this century, medical scientists made an interesting discovery; we are built not just of flesh and blood but also of time. They were able to show that we all have "a body clock" 36 us, which controls the rise and fall of our body energies, 37 us different from one day to the next.
The idea of "a body clock" should not be too 38 since the lives of most living things are controlled by the 24 hour night-and-day cycle. We feel 39 and fall asleep at night and become 40 and energetic during the day. If the 24 hour-cycle is disturbed, most people experience unpleasant 41 . For example, people who are not 42 to working at night can find that 43 of sleep causes them to 44 badly at work. 45 the daily cycle of sleeping and waking, we also have other cycles which last longer than one day. Most of us would 46 that we feel good on some days and not so good on others ; sometimes our ideas seem to flow and at other times, they 47 do not exist.

I truly hope that at the end of this short essay(短文) you will know how to learn English.
I was born in Somalia, and Italian is my mother tongue. 31 enough, soon after I arrived in London when I was 17, I was admitted to a sixth-form college. I found caring (体贴的) teachers there, who 32 taught me English. This, I think, was a(n) 33 factor(因素) that encouraged me to learn the language. The most important thing, 34, is to work hard. So those of you who don’t have such good teachers should not 35. When I was in London, I 36 myself to English learning as I 37 to go to university very much. Mastering the language was the only 38 to achieve my goal.
Now I have 39 my master’s degree from Oxford University. Looking back, I 40 I was quite innocent (天真的),for I never imagined learning English was going to be so much 41. The more fluent I become, the 42 the language became. One can master it only 43 years of tireless efforts(努力).
Some basic 44 which I would give to people who are interested in learning the language are:
1. Buy a good dictionary. 45 English learners use their dictionaries all the time.
2.46 English newspapers. Don’t forget to 47 the new words in your dictionary.
3. Listen to the radio 48 watching TV as listening to the radio helps you more.
4. Talk, talk and talk to 49 at anytime and anywhere.
And even though at times it may be embarrassing(尴尬的) to make 50,you will finally correct them and remember them. Soon you will start to become fluent.
