High school students have become the largest age group seeking plastic surgery procedures (整形手术) in China. The majority of these procedures are cosmetic(美容的). Many high school students and graduates are looking to improve their looks to help ease the job search, according to a survey.
Despite this trend, not all plastic surgeons in China agree that the younger patients are emotionally ready to make a wise decision on cosmetic surgery. Hu Xiaogen, a doctor who works at the plastic surgery department of China-Japan Friendship Hospital, told a newspaper that one 16-year-old student canceled student canceled an operation just as he was about to anesthetize(麻醉) her.
