Soon computers and other machines will be able to remember you by looking at your eyes! The program works because everyone’s eyes are different. So in the future you won’t have to remember a number when you want to use a machine or take money out of a bank. You’ll just have to look at the machine and it will be able to tell who you are.
The eye-recognition(眼睛识别) program is already being tested in shops and banks in the USA, Britain and France. Soon, this technology(技术) will change all other ways of finding out who people are.
However, scientists are working on other systems. Machines will soon be able to know you from the shape of your face or hands or even your smell! We already have machines that can tell who you are from your voice or the mark made by your fingers.
Eye-recognition is better than other kinds because your eyes don’t change as you get older, or get dirty like hands or fingers. And even twins have different eyes, so the program can be up to 94% correct, depending on how good the technology is. Some programs may only be right 51% of the time. In Britain, it was found that 91% of people who had tried it said that they liked the idea of eye-recognition.
In the future your computer will be looking at you in the eye. So smile! What is the advantage of using the eye-recognition program?

A.You type in your number. |
B.You show your ID card. |

Why can the eye-recognition program be up to 94% correct?

C.Because people like the idea of the program. |
D.Because the program is widely used around the world. |
Which of the following is TRUE?
A.The program is being tested in Japan. |

During ancient times in China, children didn’t have any smartphones, iPads or computers to have fun. Instead, they came up with interesting games to play in their childhood. Let’s take a look.
Stone balls During the Qing Dynasty, kicking a stone ball around was a popular sport in the northern part of China, and it was often played in winter to keep warm. Stones were carved (雕刻) into small balls and kicked along with feet.
Flying kites Kites have quite a long history. The earliest kites were made of wood, instead of paper. Nowadays, the three most famous kites are the Beijing kite, Tianjin kite, and Weifang kite. And they are quite different from each other. For example, the swallow-shaped kite is a well-known Beijing style.
Hide-and-seek Hide-and-seek is a traditional game for children, popular around the nation. There are two ways to play: covering a child’s eyes while other kids run around to enjoy themselves or, more commonly, one child must try to find other players who hide.
Watching shadow plays The closest thing to watching a film or television for fun during ancient times was going to see a shadow play. Folk artists use puppets (木偶) behind the screen to show all kinds of shadows, telling stories with music. During the Qing Dynasty, shadow play art reached its top, and was shown for each important occasion.

Once upon a time, two brothers lived in a village. They were both famers and grew corn. The elder brother had many children to feed. The younger brother also had a big family to look after. Although the brothers were poor, they lived happily.
One year, there was a drought (干旱) and the corn didn’t grow well. The two brothers collected their small harvest and stored the grain in their barns (谷仓).
That night, the elder brother couldn’t sleep. He was worried about his brother. Would he have enough grain to feed his family? At last, the elder brother got out of bed. He went to his barn and filled a bag with grain. Then he went silently to his brother’s house and secretly added the grain to his brother’s pile (堆).
Every night, he did the same thing. He took some of his own grain and added it to his brother’s store. But after a while, he noticed something strange. His pile of grain never looked smaller in the morning.
One night, he decided to find out why. After it had got dark, he hid near his barn and watched. At last, a man came near with his own bag of grain. At first he didn’t know who he was. Then, he was amazed to see his own brother. Every night the younger brother had done the same thing—taking grain from his own pile to give to his brother.
It was true brotherly love!

Success is often considered to be the opposite of failure. To teenagers, it is the achievement of a goal or completion of something they really need, such as good grades and the ability to get along well with their classmates. Some schools used to agree with most parents who measured (判定) the success of their children according to grades, but now they pay special attention to moral (道德的) education and character-building to make sure teenagers achieve success in building human relationships.
Schools give chances to students to discover their hidden ability so that they can enjoy some form of success. For example, those good at speaking skills are advised to take part in speech competitions while those interested in arts are expected to perform in front of their classmates. Teenagers also get the pleasure of success when they join their favorite clubs.
Teenagers are often told that success is not easy to achieve and that success lies in hard work. Great efforts have to be put into project work. Doing things much later than planned should be avoided as this will lead to a mountain of work which finally makes them nervous. Another good quality (品质) is a sense of responsibility which makes them remember that a task has to be completed.
Sticking to moral values is the key to success too. Honest teenagers will win the trust of friends leading to good relationships. Self-motivation (自我激励) is another quality to be developed, for self-motivated teenagers will have the strong will and drive to perform a task and finally get to enjoy a sense of achievement.
