A recent survey found that only 9 percent of teens in the United States smoke cigarettes(香烟). That’s down from 23 percent in 2000. While this is good news for the US’s overall health, tobacco(烟草)use is still a problems.
Cigarettes can cause many diseases. Although they know about the health problems, teenagers still smoke. According to the American Lung Association(美国肺病协会), every day almost 3,900 children under 18 years of age try their first cigarette, and more than 950 of them will become daily smokers. If it goes on like this, 5.8 million children alive today will die as a result of smoking.
The Truth Campaign is working to end teenage smoking. Their latest activities uses social media(媒体) to remind teenagers of the dangers of smoking. “If we all join forces, smokers and non-smokers, we can end smoking once and for all,” the campaign website explained. The campaign encourages teens to learn the facts. “ We are not here to criticize(批评)your choices, or tell you not to smoke. We are here to arm everyone, smokers and non-smokers, with the tools to make change,” they say.

Growing up is not always easy. When we face difficulties，a spirit of depending on yourself is more useful than crying for help．That’s what Hong Zhanhui’s story of growing from boy to man with family hardship tells us．
Hong was born in 1982 in a poor family in Xihua County(县)，Henan Province. When he was only 11，his father became badly ill and one day he came back with an unwanted baby girl．A year later，Hong’s mother left home. She no longer wanted to live such a poor life and face her sick husband．Everything hard fell onto the young boy’s shoulders. He managed to take care of his father and the sister Chenchen and go on to study as well．
Although his life was hard, Hong didn’t go away from his father and sister. He worked in part-time jobs to feed his family．He climbed tall trees to get birds’ eggs for his sister．He walked two hours at weekends to the market to buy different things to sell around his school. A few years later，he studied at a college．To take care of Chenchen，he worked hard to rent(租)a room near his college for her，and send her to school．
After Hong’s story went public，he became a hero in people’s eyes．But Hong refused offers from others．He said he felt encouraged by kind offers，but he could depend on his own work．

WAY 4: Use recycled paper in the bathroom. Most of the toilet paper we use is made from trees found in forests. If every family replaced(替换)one roll of toilet paper with a recycled one, 424,000 trees would still be standing.

Amy was looking for a gift for her little daughter. Suddenly she stopped before a store of dolls. “Girls like dolls,” she thought as she stepped into it. Looking around, she saw a grandma doll---one with gray hair and a pair of glasses. In her mind appeared Joyce, her mother.

Last Thursday. I traveled on the 8:00 a.m. train from Glasgow to London King's Cross and I was quite angry with the service of your company.
The train didn't come on time and it was forty minutes late when it left Glasgow. A man at the station said sorry to us, but he didn't give us any reasons for the delay(延迟).
