How do successful people think? What helps them to make success? To find out the answers, an American scholar recently visited some of the most successful people in America.
Be responsible for yourself
Sometimes you may want to blame others for your failure to get ahead. You’re saying, “You have more control over my life than I do.”
Live life “on purpose”
Almost all successful people live life “on purpose”— they are doing what they believe they should and want to do. When you live your life on purpose, you’ll try your best to do your job or study as well as you can. You love what you do and you can find pleasure in what you do.
Write a plan
It is very difficult trying to get what you want without a good plan. A good plan is like a map to you. Without this “map”, you may waste your time, money and also your energy; while with the “map” you’ll enjoy the “trip” and get what you want in the shortest possible time.
Be willing to pay the price
Nothing great is easy to get. So you must be ready to work hard — even harder than you have ever done. If you are not willing to pay the price, you won’t get anything valuable.
Never give up When you are doing something, you must tell yourself again and again: Giving up is worse than failure because failure can be the mother of success, but giving up means the death of hope.
Once an American writer was writing a novel. He could not have a good ending for his book until one night when he had a very good idea. He was so excited that he made a phone call to one of his best friends. “I’ve got a perfect idea,” he said, “I’ll put it down later and show it to you.” But he never did, because he died that night. His book was left without a perfect ending. So remember, do what you can right away. Never delay at all.

This exciting new magazine informs readers about what is happening in the world through its in-depth articles on current affairs, politics and science. It also provides a variety of reviews on recent books, films and music CDs.
F. No journalists write for Teen Voice. This magazine depends completely on articles sent in by its teenage readers. It gives young people the opportunity to publish their creative works such as poems or short works of fiction or to voice their opinions on important issues. They can also write comments on the latest music CDs.

Meet the magic folk
Throughout the ages and across the world, fairies（童话故事）have come alive in the stories, poems, and songs passed down from the old to the young. Some amazing stories about fairies have come to us from the British Isles.
Merrows are Irish fairy mermaids（美人鱼）. The females are very gentle and beautiful with fishes’ tails. Merrows sometimes come onto land disguised（伪装）as small, white cattle or as beautiful women wearing bright red feather caps.
Leprechauns（矮妖）are fairies that appear as tiny old men. They like to be alone most of the time, making and mending shoes and keeping their pots of gold well hidden. If a human catches a leprechaun and asks for its gold, the leprechaun must hand it over. If the human looks away for even an instant, the leprechaun will joyfully disappear.
Brownies are hairy little men who do chores（杂事）in houses and on farms during the night. All they want as payment is food, and they get very angry if humans watch them do their work. If a brownie is given clothes as a present, he’ll disappear forever.
Selkies are seal fairies. Female selkies sometimes come to shore and take off their sealskins to play on the beach in human form. Like merrows, if a human finds a selkie’s sealskin, she can’t go back to the ocean. If she finds her sealskin, she happily returns to the sea, leaving her human husband and children…but she comes close to shore to watch over them from time to time.
