A middle school in Yueyang in central China's Hunan province charges students 1 yuan per day for napping in lunch break. Students had to pay 138 yuans per semester after the school enforced a compulsory hour-long midday break from 12.40 to 1.40 pm. But students could only nap at their desks, in classrooms with no internal heating system.
Meanwhile, students were asked to pay around 400 yuan per person for extra-curricular lessons during winter vacations. The authority also revealed that the school has also asked parents to buy their Parents' Guidebook priced at 29 yuan. Students also had to pay 30-yuan per semester for drinking water.
The school later justified charging a fee, saying that the money was used to gave an extra bonus to the teachers, who had to sacrifice their lunch break to watch over the students as they napped.
School added that some students live far from the school and therefore cannot go home during the mid-day break.

I once met a middle-aged stranger who said his money had been stolen at the railway station，so he had no money to go home. He begged for help from passers-by，but they all pretended not to have heard what he was saying and went by quickly. Then he stopped me and wanted me to give him the help. At first I could not accept that because I didn't think he was telling the truth. But when I saw tears in his eyes，I began to believe that he might be in the real trouble，so，just immediately I gave him all the money I had. When he took the money， his face turned red. When I came back to school and told my classmates about my story，they held different opinions.
