Nowadays, some students would not like to live in a dormitory. Instead, they rented houses outside the school. There are advantages for them all. Living in a dormitory can increase friendship and cooperation among classmates, but of course it is safer．Besides, a dormitory is more like a society, where enables students to learn to get along with the each other，thus preparing the social life later. As for renting houses to live lonely, it’s better for your study as you can feel freely in your own room without being interrupted by others. As a result，you can have a plenty of time to devote yourself to review your lessons wholeheartedly. But there may appear a few safety problem as you live outside the school. Anyhow as a student, I prefer living in a dormitory.

Last week I went to visit to my former neighbor, Mr. Li. He and I used to living next to each other for many years. About half a year ago, an order came which the old building, along with many other similar ones, were going to be pulled down to make room for a main street. So I had to move apart. Mr. Li now lives in the suburbs near a beautiful park. His new apartment is much big than before. The only problem is that it took quite a long time to get to the downtown area. Therefore, Mr. Li doesn’t seem to worry about the long distance. He says that new subway line is to be built in a few year and he is sure life will be better in the future.

One day I left school and walked to home through the zoo. I was walking along while I saw a lot of people run towards me. “Run!” They shouted at myself. See the large audience, I started to feel little nervous. After some times, it was my turn to sing. When the host read my name out, the audience burst into a great cheer, and my heart began to beat really fastly. The song I sing was Country Road, that is a very famous piece of American country music. I had practiced for it many times, and I didn’t think I had done a very good job. Anyway, I was still very excited because of participating was the most important thing to me.

One of the difficulty for foreign students in American universities is taking notes while listen to lectures. These notes are later used to studying for exams. If the notes aren’t well, it will be hard for the students to prepare for the exams. But it is not easy take good notes. If you are try to write every word the professor say, you can’t keep pace with the lecture. That you should learn is how to set down only the most important words, not whole sentences. Words such like nouns and verbs are most important. Remembering that you need information, not sentences.
