Height is just one of the features your genes (基因) decide. In fact, because
you have two parents, your genes provide you a height that usually lands somewhere
between the height of each parent. If both your parents are tall, then most probably
you will be tall, too. But if you have questions about how tall you’re going to be,
ask your doctor if he or she can help you find them out.
But genes don’t decide everything. For example, eating an unhealthy diet can keep you from growing to your full potential (潜力). Getting plenty of sleep and enough exercise will help you grow to the expected height.
It’s natural that you’re wondering how fast you should grow. There’s no perfect or right answer. Generally speaking, kids grow about 6 cm a year between age 3 and the time when they start puberty.
Your doctor will know how your growth has been going over the years. 2 cm here and 3 cm there make a little difference to the height you’re at now. How have you been growing up to this height? What other changes may your body be going through?
Don’t be amazed if you seem to have grown a lot in a very short time. Everyone has a growth spurt (高峰) during puberty. The age for starting puberty is about 10 for girls and about 11 for boys. But it can be earlier or later — between 7 and 13 for girls and 9 and 15 for boys.
You’ll usually begin to notice that you’re growing faster about a year after your body starts to show the first changes of puberty.

If you want to know how tall you should grow, _______.

A.you should have enough exercise
B.you can record your growth during puberty
C.you should take some special medicine
D.you can ask doctors for help

This passage is mainly about ______.

A.how good it is to be a doctor
B.how much sleep time we need
C.why genes can’t decide everything

Which is NOT mentioned in the passage?

A.Girls’ age for starting puberty is usually earlier than that for boys’.

Are you the only child in your family? Have you heard of"the two﹣child policy(政策)"?

Everyone knows the one﹣child policy. It is a population control method. Chinese government aimed to control the increasing population at that time. Many Chinese couples understood thatand followed this policy for nearly 40 years. Everyone should be responsible for our country.

However, as time goes by, some problems appear in our society. At present, these problems are many about:

● The number of the workers changed from about 960 million in 2010 to 940 million in 2012. The number changed to 930 million in 2014 and will possibly fall by 29 million by 2020.

● China is now getting into aging(老龄化)society. There will be more old people in the following years. But the society will be short of doctor and nurses to take care of them.

● The population of China will be become smaller and smaller if one﹣child policy continues. It's the basic reason that leads to the two problems above.

That's why Chinese government began the two﹣child policy on January 1 st,2016. It allows each family to have two children. The government expects it can help solve those social problems gradually. This policy will help offer enough workers in the future and prevent our country from entering the aging society. It is reported that will be around 2.5 million newly﹣born babies each years.

China is a great country with the largest population in the world. In order to solve the population problem, our government carried outone-child policy (政策) before. When it is carried out for some time, many people not only see its advantages but also disadvantages.

From 2016,two-child policy is put into effect. In my opinion,two-child policy is good.First of all,two-child policy is the gift for some only child (独生子).For some families, maybe the parents are only child and they also can have only child.Besides the loneliness of their child, when their child grows up and they grow older, their child marry an only child girl, the burden (负担) on their child and his wife is too heavy.Their child and his wife have to take care of two couples.Usually,it is a little difficult for a young couple to look after an old couple. But if their parents have two children, they can share the burden of taking care of their parents. It would be much better.Secondly,two-child policy can guarantee (保证) the number of Chinese population.

All in all,one-child policy has been out of date. And tow-child policy is needed and necessary. It can solve the problem of nowadays and the future.
