Plumb was a successful US pilot in the war against Vietnam. However, once his plane (destroy) by the enemy and he was forced to jump out.
(luck), with the help of the parachute(降落伞)he landed safely, but he was caught by the enemy and put
prison for 6 years.
One day, many years after the war, Plumb and his wife were sitting in a restaurant he found a man staring at him.
Plumb looked back but didn’t recognize him. The man stood up and said, “You are Captain Plumb?” Plumb looked up at him and nodded. The man said, “You were pilot soldier in Vietnam. You landed into the enemy land with the help of your parachute.”
(embarrass), Plumb asked, “ How did you know all that?” The man continued, “Because I packed your parachute and
worked well.”
Plumb stayed awake that night. He wondered many times he had either walked past his life saver without saying anything
ignored him completely.
Think about this for ourselves. We sometimes completely ignore the people around, who help us out when we need them badly. They are just the man who was just there packing parachutes.

___, a policeman noticed the tramp and the sign around his neck. Out of a sense of responsibility, he woke the tramp up and said, “It’s 2:30 p.m.”
My first roller coaster experience was not pleasant. It was in the summer of 2009, in Six Flags, Massachusetts, the US. I went with a group of friends. We were all very excited about roller coaster
waited anxiously for the ride to begin. As the roller coaster got up higher and higher, however, my heart started to beat
hard that I even could see my shirt move up and down. I could feel the wind getting stronger and brushing through my hair. Then the big drop came. I closed my eyes and told that it would be over in two seconds, but it felt like forever. I was pushed up from my seat as if I
to be thrown out of the car.
the time I finished the ride, I could barely stand up or speak. So when my friends asked me
I thought of the ride, I just answered with silence. No matter how hard I tried, I could not make
sound.
We went to the swimming pool today. I had my first swimming lesson. At first I was very afraid. I hated it when the water went up my nose and into my ears. I kept my eyes closed all ___ time.
Slowly, however, I became more confident. The teacher made sure _ would always touch the bottom of the pool with my feet and
__ my head was above water. By the end of the lesson I could float on the water for
__ least a minute.
I’m glad I’m learning to swim; it can be lots of fun. Soon I hope to be able to dive into the pool __ swim underwater.
Why is reading so important? Joseph Addison once said, “Reading is to the mind what exercise is the body.” I am sure you
have heard this quote. Reading is a great hobby,
makes you discover yourself. Reading good stories can help you solve some problems in your own life. Besides, reading
sets a good example to younger generations.
Sadly, people nowadays seem to have totally lost interest in this activity. Children are busy with computer games, adults use their cell phones or computers to search for information.
seems that people have forgotten
importance of reading. Anybody can use the Internet to look for information, but the sources are
as reliable as a book.
To open a book is always beneficial! Don’t spend all your spare time on the computer screen or cell phones.
