It was late on the night of October 20, 1939 when Dr Bethune was busy working in a field （医院）．A soldier came and （告诉）Dr Bethune that the front was in great need of (医疗的) workers．Dr Bethune set off with a medical team at once．
On their way, they met a group of soldiers．They took the (受伤的) soldiers into a small temple and Dr Bethune began to operate on them．
Dr Bethune went on working day and （夜晚）．The next day while an operation was going on, a young man ran in and said to the doctors, “Several（百）enemy soldiers are coming．”Soon they heard the sound of guns(枪)．But Dr Bethune still went on with his work．
Twenty （分钟） later, when Bethune was operating on the leg of the last injured soldier, the guns sounded much（更近的）．But Dr Bethune（继续）working．He and the other doctors did not leave（直到）the operation was over．Dr Bethune was really a hero!
