Many homes have cameras to protect them from danger. The cameras can tell the owners if someone has entered. But the cameras do not know whether the person is a family member,a friend,a postman or a criminal (罪犯).

But a new camera made by a French company can recognize (辨别出) faces. It can tell parents at work that their children have returned from school,or that the mail has been sent to their home.It can also tell them if a stranger has entered their home. When family members enter a home, the smart camera"recognizes"them and sends information to the owner's phone. The owner can choose to see the video then or later. But if an unknown person enters a home, the camera will send a warning sound on the owner's phone.

This is what happened recently to a smart home camera owner named Damien. He lives in Paris.

"On a Friday I was at work, having a big monthly meeting when my phone moved. At first I told myself'Oh,it must be a wrong warn,'but my phone was telling me there was a face that the camera did not recognize.Something was happening in my house!"

"I saw a person I did not know with his shoes on,which is not allowed in my apartment (公寓).I watched it on the video.I felt quite surprised.I hurried back home as fast as possible and called the police on the way. Thanks to the smart camera, the criminal was caught soon,"said Damien.

Someday in the future we may not need to have money in our pockets. Is life easier when people don’t need to carry any currency at all? Is money heavy to carry? Is it safe to carry money? Maybe in the future each of us will have only one small plastic credit card. We will use it to buy all the things we now buy with money. We will not need money to pay for things.
Of course we may still have some of the same problems with cards we now have with money. Sometimes we lose money. Maybe we will lose the cards. Maybe someone will take the card. Someone may even make a card that looks like our card. Since we can’t buy anything without our cards, the credit card may be no better than currency.
Is there something easier to use than credit card? Each of us has a thumbprint(拇指纹). No two thumbprints are the same. Maybe someday the government will keep people’s thumbprints with a number. When you want to buy something you will put your thumb on a machine or a computer. Each store or business will have one. Everyone’s thumbprint will be in the computers. It will be very difficult to lose our thumbprints! It will be difficult for someone to steal it or to make one like it.

There was once a farmer who had a fine olive orchard(橄榄果园). He was hard-working, but his three sons hated farm work. When the farmer was dying, he called the three sons to him and said, "My sons, there is a pot (罐子) of gold hidden in the olive orchard. Dig for it, if you want it."
The sons tried to get him to tell them in what part of the orchard the gold was hidden; but he would tell them nothing more.
After the farmer was dead, the sons went to work to find the pot of gold; since they did not know where the hiding-place was, they agreed to begin in a line, at one end of the orchard, and to dig until one of them should find the money.
They dug until they had turned up the soil from one end of the orchard to the other, round the tree-roots and between them. But no pot of gold was to be found. It seemed as if someone must have stolen it. The three sons were rather disappointed to have all their work for nothing.
The next olive season, the olive trees in the orchard bore more fruit than they had ever given; when it was sold, it gave the sons a whole pot of gold.

When you were very young, you liked to play with your friends. Did you find that playtime was always more fun when everyone shared the toys? Everyone got a turn. No one was left out.
That’s a life lesson that changes as you get older. As you grow up, you begin to understand that others have less than you do - in China and in the world. And that those of us who “have” things should help those who “ have less” than we do. The idea of sharing makes a great difference.
At your age, you can “share” with people in need in three ways.
1. You can give them a part of your money. Many adults do that regularly.
2. You can share items you no longer use, such as clothing and toys. You can pass them onto others who cannot buy them.
3. You can help people by giving your time and your energy.
The last one is also called volunteering. Volunteering is about giving your time to take part in activities that will help others. Every year, many thousands of volunteers in the world give the most valuable gift of all. They give their time. They give their talent. They give of themselves. And they are enjoying it. Volunteering isn’t just about work. It’s about fun too.
