When talking about picking a right school,a mother and teacher gave some pieces of advice.
In the latest issue(期) of Youth magazine, the mother shared the school advice she gave her daughters with young people across the country.
"I've told my daughters many times that I don't want them to choose a name,"the mother said."I don't want them to think,'Oh,I should go to these top schools.'We live in a country with hundreds of excellent universities. So the first question is:what's going to work for me?"
"When it was time to prepare for picking schools, nobody around me believed I could get into Xiamen University. But through hard work I finally made it,"she continued."So,my second piece of advice is:believe in yourself,no matter what other people might say.Once your goal is set,you only need to try your best to make it come true."
"The last piece of advice is not to be worried even if your dreams don't come true.As I've said above, there are so many good universities out there. So it's important for everybody to understand that you can always find a university that gives you a great education."

Do you know why different animals or pests have their special colors? Colors in them seem to be used mainly to protect themselves.
Some birds like eating locusts, but birds cannot easily catch them. Why? It is because locusts change their colors together with the change of the colors of crops. When crops are green, locusts look green. But as the harvest time comes, locusts change to the same brown color as crops have. Some other pests with different colors from plants are easily found and eaten by others. So they have to hide themselves for lives and appear only at night.
If you study the animal life, you’ll find the main use of coloring is protecting themselves. Bears, lions and other animals move quietly through forests. They cannot be seen by hunters. This is because they have the colors much like the tree.
Have you ever noticed an even more strange act? A kind of fish in the sea can send out a kind of very black liquid when it faces danger. While the liquid spread over, the enemies cannot find it. And it immediately swims away. So it has lived up to now though it isn’t strong at all. From the passage we can learn that locusts .

“Take the entrance examination,” her father said, “and we’ll think of something if you pass.”
Susan took the examination. She did not score very high marks, but she scored enough, and was offered a place at the university.
“I’m very proud of you, Susan,” her father said. “I must find the money for a university education for you somehow.”

The American secret service began in 1865. It has many important jobs. One is to stop different types of fraud(诈骗), such as printing fake(假的) money, credit card(信用卡) fraud and computer fraud. The other is to protect the president at all times.
The secret service’s earliest job was to stop people from making fake money. The secret service agents(特工) still have to do that because the criminals(罪犯) are smarter now. They are better at using computers and other expensive equipment. But agents are much smarter.
Protecting the president is hard. The most dangerous places are outdoors. Agents can’t check every person in the crowd, so they must watch the crowd carefully. And they always follow the president. They’re just like the president’s shadow.
Unluckily, some criminals do want to give the president trouble, or even hurt him. The secret service agents try to find them and stop them when they want to do something bad. It’s a dangerous, but important job. The secret service helps keep the president and the country safe.
