Some people around you look so cool and happy, but you often feel lonely. Or the friends you have do not really understand you that make you feel lonely, too. So what can be done when you have this feeling?

Understand people's differences

Not everyone has to do things the same way or behave the same way. Find people who have the same feeling. That is always a good basic for the friendship. You can take part in activities outside school like sports, art classes and dancing classes. There you can have more chances to find people who have the same interest as you.

Develop your friendship

Friendships do not just happen, and they need work. Phone your friends once in a while. Being there when they need you means that they will do the same for you.

Accept others' invitations

Even if someone invites you to a neighborhood street party, you never know who else will be there. Laughing and playing together could start a new friendship.

Start a club

Make your circle of friends big by starting a club. Going camping together or regularly (有规律地) going to the movies doesn't take much time.

The phone rings. It’s a friend who wants to tell you his or her latest health problems. You hate to be impolite and cut your friend off, but what can you do? Stephanie Winston, author of Stephanie Winston’s Best Organizing Tips, offers his advice:
Don’t ask questions like “What’s new?” They give the information that you have time to talk. After “hello”, get right to the heart of the matter.
Time your calls wisely. If you make a call right before lunch or dinner, or at the end of the workday, people chat less.
Set a time limit. Start with, “Hi, I’ve only got a few minutes, but I wanted to talk to you about….” Or, “Gee, I’d love to talk more, but I only have a couple of minutes before I have to leave.”
Jump on a pause. Even the most talkative caller has to pause now and then. Quickly say, “It has been great talking with you.” Then end the conversation.
Forget niceties. Some people just don’t take a hint. Cut your caller off and say, “I’d like to talk to you longer, but I’m afraid I have no enough time. Good bye.” Then hang up.
Find “a partner in crime”. If nothing else works, ask someone in your home to help you. For example, one woman gives a sign to her husband, who shouts, “Jane, I think the roast chicken is burning.”
Avoid the phone completely. Use an answering machine to screen calls. If you have an important message for a chatterbox, leave the message when he or she isn’t in.

Last week, my granddaughter started primary school. And I wished her every success. But part of me didn’t. Success is that you can do something that you already know you can do, or doing something correctly the first time. First –time success is usually a luck. First-time failure, in fact, is supposed to be the natural order of things. Failure is how we learn.
I make my living by writing articles for a daily newspaper. Each week I thought that the article that I write would be the worst. I try my best every day. A successful article usually means that I am discussing the subjects I know well, writing in the way I am used to or saying the same things as anyone else but in an excellent way.
My younger daughter is a trapeze artist荡秋千演员.she spent three years putting together a show, and she did it successfully for years. There was no reason for her to change it but she did anyway. Life is important. You should always have fun and new experiences, because you never know what day will be your last. You shouldn’t hold anger. You never know what could happen next. I learn all this at the age of nine.

I went into the house and tried to be quiet. Then I heard people shouting outside. My cousin rushed in. she said that Nessa had been hit by a street truck as she crossed the road. The driver didn’t see her. I felt sad. I wished it had been me instead. It could have been avoided if we hadn’t had that fight!
When the ambulance救护车arrived a few minutes later, they said she was dead. I was a real mess. I had to see a psychologist心理医生for the rest of the summer.
