Let's clean up the ocean together.
We all know it's important to have dreams. However,to make the dream come true is not an easy thing.A young Dutch man named Boyan enjoys working hard to make his dreams come true.
When Boyan was 16,he went diving(潜水)in Greece. He was shocked to see more plastic bags than fish in the sea.The boy made up his mind to clean up the ocean. However, everyone told him that there was nothing he could do once plastic bags went into the ocean. The teenager didn't give up.He spent several months studying plastic pollution. Finally,he came up with a science project using floating barriers(漂浮的栅栏)to collect the waste. That is to say, instead of using nets and ships to collect the plastic bags, the barriers can make the plastic bags come together with the help of natural ocean currents(洋流) and winds. What's more, the collected plastic bags can be recycled and made into products or oil.
Boyan won prizes for the project, but that was not enough for him:he wanted to make it a reality(实现).In 2013,he set up The Ocean Cleanup.Together with scientists, engineers and volunteers, the young man is working hard to clean up the ocean to make our world a better place.

Butterflies are common all over the world, but butterflies in hotter countries are usually bigger and more brightly colored than those in coo1er countries, and there are more different kinds.
Usually the male(雄性的)butterflies are more brightly colored than the females. The females have bigger and heavier bodies since they carry the eggs. The bright colors of the males help to attract the females, and the duller(较暗淡的)colors of the females make them less likely(可能的)to be caught by enemies before they have laid their eggs.
Some butterflies have bright pattern colors on the upper surface of their wings that show when flying ,but when they rest on a tree or leaves , they close their wings. On the undersides of their wings there are green and brown marks which look like the tree or leaves. They are then difficult to be seen. The best example of this is the Dead Leaf Butterfly. When its wings are c1osed,it looks exactly like a dead leaf. There are even marks that look like the holes in a dead leaf. When the butterfly is run after by a bird,it closes its wings and seems to have disappeared completely.
Many butterflies have round marks on their wings that look like eyes. The round marks have a useful function(功能).When the butterflies are resting, their wings are closed, and these marks can’t be seen. When a bird sees one,and begins to attack it,the butterfly will open its Wings. The bird thinks that it sees two eyes staring at it,frightened, and flies away. The female butterflies have bigger and heavier bodies than the males because _______

Most students have biology classes in the classrooms or the labs in China. But several days ago,I had a biology class outside in my American schoo1.
My biology teacher,Mr.Kwak, divided us into three groups and asked us to play a game about natural selection(选择)and how birds find food.
He gave the first group one spoon per person, the second group forks and my group"knives.I thought we were going hunting,so knives might work better.Surprisingly,he told us to pick up the beans on the grass with our tools.
When the game started all of us ran to the grass area.We squatted(蹲)down and looked for beans. It was hard to pick up something that small, especially from the grass .
When I almost fired a bean,it dropped back to the ground. When I finally picked up several beans.one of my friends ran into me.I couldn’t keep my balance and fell over. All my beans dropped to the ground!Just at that moment,Mr.Kwak called us back.I had to leave the game and of course I got a bad result.I couldn’t help thinking that if I were a bird living on Galapagos Island,I would be dead soon.
The fun game made me realize that natural selection is redly competitive(竞争的).Everyone is trying his or her best to—survive. What did the writer’s group use to pick up the beans?
A.Spoons. | B.Forks. | C.Knives. | D.Hands. |
How many beans did the writer get at last?

C.Be lovely. | D.Keep balanced. |
What was the aim of Mr.Kwak’s class?
A.To play an interesting game. |
B.To pick up the beans. |
C.To know different kinds of birds. |
D.To learn natural selection. |

There is a sign at a Korean university asking tourists not to step into the grass to take photos. The sign is not written in Korean or English; it is written in Chinese.
These signs, and signs in other countries warning Chinese tourists about their behavior, have shamed many Chinese who worry about the image of the country.
Over 70 million Chinese tourists made overseas trips last year and spent $102 billion, more than the $84 billion spent by American and German tourists. For many Chinese tourists, it was their first trip abroad and they didn’t know about foreign ways. And some of these tourists took their bad habits from China with them.
Wang Yang, a Chinese deputy prime minister(国务院副总理), said, “They(the tourists) speak loudly in public, carve words or numbers on tourist attractions, cross the road when the traffic lights are still red and spit anywhere. It damages(毁坏) the image of the Chinese people and has a very bad influence.”
Before you travel to a foreign country, it’s important to learn some things about the country and its culture. You are guests in the country and it’s important to respect(尊重) your hosts. As more and more Chinese visit foreign countries, their behavior will certainly change and those shameful signs will, hopefully, disappear. The sign at a Korean university is written in ______.

If you’re ready to add more physical activity(体育运动) to your life, here are some tips(建议).
Make physical activity part of your routine, like brushing your teeth or going to work. Try biking to work at least once a week, using the stairs more often, or walking to some places near home. But talk to your doctor before you start an exercise routine, especially if you haven’t been very active or have health problems.
Walking is one of the best fitness(健康) activities. To keep up a routine, you can walk with family members, friends or pets. Count your steps with a step counter(计数器). You can buy one at a sporting goods store. If you don’t have time for one 30-minute walk, break it into three 10-minute walks.
Find an activity that you enjoy, and stay with it. Change it with other activities so you don’t get bored. For example, walk three days a week, and swim or bike on the other days. Join a volleyball or basketball club for fun and exercise. By finding more activities you enjoy, you’ll have a greater chance for success. The underlined word “routine” probably means “______” in Chinese.
