Walking
If you want to get healthy or stay healthy, there is one easy activity for you - walking. You may think that simply taking a walk is not enough to make a big difference. You may think that you need to do something like running to stay healthy. Well, a new study says that is not true. It finds out that walking may be as good for us as running.
Running is a high-impact ( 高强度的 ) activity and can be hard on the body. So, many people cannot run. Walking seems to have all of the advantages and none of the disadvantages of running.
Dr Russell Pate is a professor of exercise science at the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina. He says, "Walking is one of the easiest and safest exercises a person can do. You do not need to learn a lot to get results."
Walking needs no special skills or equipment . You can do it anywhere. It fits easily into your daily schedule ( 日程表 ). You can walk at work. You can walk if you want to go shopping. You can take the stairs instead of the lift.
Walking is a great exercise for beginners. If you are out of shape or getting back into shape after an illness or accident, walking is perfect. You can do a little at a time, or as we like to say, take baby steps.

Is your TV connected to the Internet? What about your chair,or your fridge? Probably they are not. But in the future, most things in your home may be connected, thanks to the so-called “Internet of things”.
The Internet of things may be coming sooner than you think. Earlier this year, A Samsung CEO spent a lot of time talking about the Internet things. He said that five years from now, every Samsung product will be part of the Internet of things,no matter whether it’s a remote control or a washing machine.
So, how do household(家用的) objects that are part of the Internet of things work? Well, think of a common chair. When connected to the Internet, the chair warms up when it knows the user has just walked into the room and is feeling cold.
An Internet-connected camera could help people feel safer in their homes. It can know people’s faces and has an infrared sensor(红外传感器),so even if it’s dark it can see when someone passes by and send you a message on your smartphone to let you know who’s there. If the person is someone you don’t know,it can tell you that ,too.
But according to MIT Technology Roview, whether companies are connecting dog food bowls or security systems to the Internet, there may be some problems. For example, many early connected-home objects don’t have much built-in security, which means they could be hacked(被黑客攻击). Morever, it could be difficult to get these new machines to work together especially when they are made by different companies. To fight this ,many companies have joined the Open Interconnect Consortium, which had 45 menbers by late 2014.
So, picture this: you enter your home. The temperature changes to make you feel comfortable. Your favorite music starts playing for you. Do you think that this would be a good thing? I t may happen sooner than you think. What does the article mainly talk about?

I will never forget the tenth summer of childhood with my grandfather in western Norway at the mountain farm where my mother was born. As a boy ,I always thought people simply bought whatever they need. Whether Grandfather knew this, I don’t know. One day he said, ”Come, I have something for you.”
I followed him to a workroom. “You should have a toy boat. You can sail it at Storvassdal.” He said. Great, I thought, looking around for the boat. But there was none.
Grandfather pointed to a block of wood. “The boat is in there,” he said. Then he handed me some tools and showed me how to use them properly. “It’ll be a fine boat, and you’ll make it with your own hands,” he said,”No one can give you what you do for yourself.” The words rang in my head as I worked. Finished the boat. It wasn’t much to look at ,but I was poud. Then I sailed it at Storvassdal.
We had to return to America. “You cannot bring that boat home with you,” my mother said. We already had too much baggage. Feeling sad, I hid my boat under a big rock at Storvassdal.
I said good-bye to Grandfather, not knowing I would never see him again.
In 1964, I went to Storvassdal with my parents and my wife and children. To my surprise, for 34 years my treasure stayed here, waiting for my return. I felt we three were togethet again although my grandfather had died 22 years before.
I carved”1930”and”1964” on its side and put it back.
I returned to the lake in 1968,1971,1977 and 1988. Each time I had the boat and carved the year,my grandfather seemed near.
My last trip to Storvassdal was in 1991. I brought my granddaughters: Catherine,13; Claire,12. I hoped they would understand the importance of the little boat and its simple message. At Storvassdal, Claire said softly, ‘Grandpa, someday I’ll come back.’ She added,”And I’ll bring my children.”What lesson did the writer’s grandfather probably teach him?

Jane Austen(1775-1817),an English novelist, started writing young and completed six novels in her life. Today Austen’s books are more popular than ever. In the last 10 years, five of her six novels have been made into Hollywood films, while her books continue to be best-sellers.
Richard Jenkyns, a professor of English at Oxford University, says that her novels are about marriage, friendships and the family, which are still with us today. “The stories are timeless,”Jenkyns said.
Pride and Prejudice(偏见)(1813) is Austen’s most famous work. It is a love story about Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. At first, these two dislike each other. Elizabeth is pretty ,smart and lively. She is proud because Darcy doesn’t know about her family. Mr. Darcy is handsome, rich and has a better family background. So, he is proud as well. He has no understanding of why the family, especially its mother and daughters should try so hard to find wealthy and powerful husbands. He thinks they are vulgar. Anyway, Elizabeth and Darcy finally fall in love and become a romantic couple but their families don’t want them to.

Should Shanhai bid for(申办)the Summer Olympics in 2028? Here are some people's opinions.
Some people said,“The games will improve Shanghai's global influence and the city is powerful and must try to become a platform(平台)for major international dialogues, Shanghai has succeeded in holding the World Expo in 2010 and the city can also hold the successful Summer Olympics. "
Others, however, are not sure that it's a good idea. They think the Olympics would be too expensive and the money could be better spent on other things.
The 2008 Beijing Olympics brought much prestige(声望) to the city and to China, but its cost, over $40 million, was high and the Olympic site(场地) in the center of the city is now largely unused, Could Shanghai learn from Beijing's experience and do it better?
My answer is yes. As one American said, "A great city has to do great things. " Shanghai is a great city and is not afraid of facing challenges. Holding the 2028 Summer Olympics would prove that.Shanghai held the World Expo in 2010 successfully.
The Olympic site in the center of Beijing is now largely used.
The 2008 Beijing Olympics cost more than $40 million.
All people think it is a good idea for Shanghai to hold the Summer Olympics,
The writer thinks Shanghai can learn from Beijing's experience and do it better.
