The Internet is often used to buy and sell products, pay bills, and communicate with people. But how safe is it when you use the Internet? Our magazine Interactions asked some Internet users about their experiences.

Linda, 29, nurse: I pay all my bills online. One day, I received an email from my bank. It told me that someone was trying to take out money from my account(账号), so I should email my password(密码)to the “bank manager”. I felt something was wrong, so I called my bank and asked about the email. The bank said they never sent it. I realised that someone tried to cheat(欺骗)me of my money. I’ll continue paying my bills this way, but I’ll be more careful.

Emily, 22, office worker: I was at work, and I sent an email to a friend of mine. I was telling her about my problems with Mark, the manager. A few minutes later, a friend of Mark’s came over to my desk. He said, “So you think Mark is too strict?” My face was red. I chose the wrong name on my address list. It was my own fault, so I’ll look over my emails more carefully before I click “Send” next time.

Thomas, 21, university student: I love the Internet! I look up lots of information online. I often buy things on the websites—furniture, clothes, CDs, even foods. I have also sold some of my things on the Internet. I only use the websites I trust and I’ve never had a safety problem.

For 13-year-old Brooke Martin, seeing her golden dog Kayla has become much easier, even when she’s not at home. Martin made a kind of machine—iCPooch. It allows pet owners to video chat with their pets and sends food from other places.2-1-c-n-j-y

And what if you were able to give them a treat while you were away?” Martin explained her idea.
Now Martin and her family have set up a company. They’ve had investments (投资) from businessmen and asked a factory to make the product. They expected to sell 8,000 products by the end of 2015.

Dolphins are well fit for the job for many reasons, but the best of all, they’re too small to set off the mines so they’re never in danger.

Most squirrels are happy to collect nuts, and run after each other up and down trees. Not Twiggy! She prefers water skiing. Have you heard of “Kong Nao”? A new word appears on the Internet recently. In fact, it refers to some passengers who behave badly by plane and could endanger flight safety. On December 11, on the airline flight from Bangkok Thailand to Nanjing, two tourists conflicted with an air attendant. The male tourist poured garbage in the aisle(过道) and said something bad to the flight attendant. The female tourist threw a whole cup of hot water over the flight attendant. At last the plane was forced to turn back. On January 10, 2015, a passenger on Flight MU2036 opened an emergency exit without permission because of dissatisfaction with the flight delay. At last the plane was forced to turn back.
These things not only affect the normal order of flight but also have a bad international influence.
The improvement of living standards means more Chinese can take a plane. But many of them don’t behave well in public. A report by Living Social website in March 2012 even listed Chinese as the world’s second worst tourists after Americans.
If you want to change those bad behaviors and become a civilized passenger, remember to avoid the followings:

●Never cut in line or snatch bus seats.
●Don’t laugh or speak loudly.
●Don’t take off shoes or smoke in public.
●Say something polite and do something civilized.
Whenever and wherever you are, you need to respect others. In this way, you'll win compliments(称赞) for yourself.

As a volunteer teacher, I traveled a long way to a small village school in Longzhou, Guangxi. On my way there, I thought about the village, the school, and the children there. However, my heart sank when I arrived there. It wasn't what I expected. It didn't look like a school at all! The school had only three rooms, one for Grades 1, 2 and 3, and another one for Grades 4, 5 and 6. The third one was for me.
The children welcomed me warmly on my first day. They asked me a lot of questions, and I told them stories about myself and my life in Shanghai. The next day, I gave them a test to find out their level. Though the test was very easy, over half of the students failed it, yet they all wanted to learn new things. I knew they needed me.
I was busy preparing lessons, reading test papers every night. I enjoyed teaching these lovely and hardworking children, and I could see that they were making progress with my help. I have also learned a lot from them. I understand their lives better, and we are now good friends.
