Our school has had a survey on reading. It shows that 55 percent the students spend our time reading textbooks after the school. Only 10 percent enjoy read literature. Why are so many students unwilling to read serious works? According to the survey, they have no enough time because they have too many homework to do. Some complain that literary works are so thick that they have hardly enough patient to finish it. Others who only concentrates on how to get high scores simply admit that reading literature won’t help them at all with their exams. What’s more, some students show no interest in literature. Dear Tom,
I’m an Australian boy of 16 years old, which lives in Sydney. I like Chinese very much, but I want a pen pal in China. At school I like playing football and tennis. Our favorite subject is science because it’s very interesting. I won’t like history, for I think it’s rather boring. I play guitar well, so I join in the school rock band. In the afternoon we usually play football or tennis. We usually got home at about 5:30 pm. For weekends I often go out for a swim, which is really relaxed. Do you like sports and games? Last Sunday we went to see a AIDS patient in hospital. We bought her some flower and fruit. She was glad to see us. Many people began to avoid see her after she was infected to HIV virus. A doctor told us that the HIV virus mustn’t be infected through daily communication and that those who suffering from AIDS shouldn’t be looked down. We had a talk with the woman and gave her some CDs as gifts. She was moved to tears and promise to be optimistic and confident in overcoming the disease. We promised to see her again before left. In my opinion, the world will become more beautiful if all of us love each other and help those in the trouble.
