Dear Mary,
How are you? Today I’ve got a wonderful news to tell you. I have offered a scholarship at a university in Australia for my further education. One hundreds and twenty students took exams but only a few was chosen and I was one of them. However, my parents are not happy about it. They are strong against me going there. They say it is too far away that they will not see me for a whole year and they are afraid I will feel lonely. They couldn’t imagine a girl so young living alone. They advise me to study in the capital instead. Then I’ll be able to continue living with us. Why can I persuade them to accept the fact I have grown up?

Tsai Qin, whose songs had a great affect on us, was on a brief concert tour. The next stop was Wenzhou. I looking forward to her wonderful performance. In the morning of Mar. 18th, I set off early to the stadium. When I arrived, I found lots of fans had been gathered in the front rows to get more familiar to Tsai Qin. I held my breath, waited. At last, she turned in. The fans burst into applause. The devotion we showed to a folk queen greatly touched her as we seemed not to be able to control herself and was moved to tears.

When asked if what I want to be in the future, I often answer with pride, “I wanted to be a teacher like my father.” Though my father is in forties, he is friendly to everyone and is easy to make the friends with. Yesterday morning, it was already 7:30 that I got up. Thinking I would be late, I got dressing quickly
and left without breakfast. There were such many people at the bus stop that it was hard to catch a
bus. So I rush towards my school. Suddenly, I ran across an old woman and she fell down. Without make
an apology, I left him and went on. Later, I heard the old woman was bad injured in the leg and she was
sent to hospital. I felt it very sorry. And the following day I paid her visit.
The other day I buy a pair of leather shoes in a shoe shop. The seller told me he would give “three guarantees” for the shoes. And only four days later, the shoes worn out. So I was angry and returned to the shop hoped to get my money back. I told the seller what had been happened to the shoes. When she knew that I had kept the shoes for four days, he refused, to which I was surprised. I asked him why he didn’t keep his promises. “Do you understand the ‘three guarantees’?” the seller said. “It means the shoes can only be kept in three days!” How a foolish explanation of the “three guarantees”!

Mr. Turner turned over in bed from time to time in last night, for he was very excited that he could not fall asleep. Yesterday morning, he went to a big gardening company, knowing as Green Fingers, for the interview. Mr. Turner, that liked to help his grandfather grow flowers in the garden, looking forward to the job offered by the company. When he got to the company, he found there were many people waiting there and he had no ideas whether he could get the job. While waiting, he helps the workers there to remove the fallen trees and clear the road. Unluckily, he was the only one who finally got the job, so the manager decided to give the job to whoever he believed was helpful.
