Rose wanted a job. She went to many offices and she didn’t like any of them. One day she saw a board in an office read: “This office needs a typist whom can type 200 words a minute.” Rose was exciting. She then went to the manager’s office. Rose knocked at the door and the manager raised her head. “Do you need a typist?” asked Rose. “Yes!” he said. Rose clapped(拍) her hand and asked, “OK! How much will you pay for me every month?” The manager thought for a while and said, “I will pay you 77 dollars for first three months. In modern society, competition is everywhere. No wonder a English philosopher considers competition the source of a series of problem such as frustration and anxiety. Therefore, if we stress cooperation too much, there would be no progress. In my opinion, all are important and necessary.
Let's take the competition at school for example. Even a gifted student won't make a remarkable progress if he is in a class without competition. That's because competition, and rather, challenge is a driving force made him go forward. On the other hand, if we don't cooperate with each other, it's impossible for us learn from each other. And that's why most of the great discoveries or inventions in the modern world are the result of cooperation.

A few months after returning the US from Germany ,I tookpart in a college course in French. Since I have learned tospeak German good in Germany, I thought that it might beinterested to begin studying another language. At the firstclass, the teacher asked us to do a pronunciation exercise,in it he would say a word or two in French, and eachstudent would do their best to copy. When he got to me, hekept having me to say more words, and I finally asked himwhy. “I find it great funs. It’s the first time I've heard anAmerican speak French with a German accent.” he explained it.
