Last weekend I went to the Summer Palace as usually. At about noon, I was enjoying my reading near a lake while suddenly I hear someone crying for help. I went to see that was happening. I was shocking to find a little child struggling in the water in the distance while many people were standing by without doing anything. Without any hesitation, I had pushed through the crowd as I took off my coat, but jumped into the water quickly. I managed to reach him and carried him back to safety. To his great relief, the kid was saved.
I was proud what I had done. I hope everyone can give a hand when someone else in need.

Tom and Jack are next door neighbours who all work in same office, so they often walk together to and from office. One afternoon, they were walking to home together while it started to rain. Tom quickly opened his umbrella and said proud, “My wife really has great foresight (远见). She said this morning it will rain and told me carry my umbrella with me.” Jack smiled and walked closely to him under the protection of Tom’s umbrella and said, “My wife has even great foresight.He didn’t let me carry mine and told me to use yours.”

Recently our class have had a discussion about if it is necessary for middle school students read English classics. Different students have different opinion. 80% of the students think it necessary to read English classics. By reading classics you can enlarge our vocabulary and improve our reading skills. In addition, we learned a lot about western culture. And 20% of the students don’t think so. In their opinion, English classics are bored and difficult to understand. On my opinion, classics are examples of great writing and wisdom. Reading them can help us improving our English as well as enrich our knowledge. So that we should try to read some classics whenever possible.

How are you? Today I’ve got a wonderful news to tell you. I have offered a scholarship at a university in Australia for my further educations. One hundred and twenty students took exams for it, but only a few was chosen and I was one of them. However, my parents are not happy about it. They are strong against me going there. They say it is too far away that they will not see me for a whole year and they are afraid of I will feel lonely. They can’t imagine a girl so young live alone. They advise me study in the capital instead. Then I’ll be able to continue living with them. How can I persuade them to accept the fact I have grown up?

Recently， our school has held the meaningful discussion on whether it is reasonable for middle school students to have classes on weekends. Some of our classmates believe we should have classes on weekends because we can make fully use of free time to review the lessons we had learnt. Some others are against the opinion, saying we had better to have a good rest on weekends so that we can work effective during the weekdays. The rest agree with neither of the opinion. They have the view which keeping the balance between work and play are important for us. They suggest one day of the weekend should used to learn our lessons and on the other day, we should do something interested or have a rest.
