Dear Sir,
I have to travel every day from Souk Road to the airport. Two buses travel along the line: the number 49 and number 16. But by the time the number 16 bus gets to Souk Road, it is always full, so I can’t get on it. I have to wait for the number 49, because sometimes there are empty seats on it.
The timetable says that there are buses from Souk Road to the airport every ten minutes. If this is so, why do I have to wait half an hour for a bus every day?
The regulations(规章)say that if there are empty seats on a bus, the bus must stop at every stop where people are waiting. Why do the half-empty buses go straight past me when I am standing at the bus stop?
The regulations say that no bus may carry more than 40 seated passengers(乘客)and 20 standing passengers. Yesterday I was the first to get off the bus when it reached the airport. I counted(数)the other passengers as they got off. There were 129 of them.
It is clear that our bus companies break the regulations and think little of their passengers. Can nothing be done to make your service(服务)better?

Having friends, and finding new friendships is an important developmental task for preteens and teens. While they have learned to play well with others during their childhood, developing independent friendships is a different thing. Preteens and teens will be allowed to use their own resources to decide whether to be someone’s friend or not, instead of being taught by their parents. Parents must give their teenagers some freedom in choosing who they want to hang out with.
You can help your teens to choose their friends, although it’s your teenagers who make the final decision. You can use teachable moments to talk about what makes a good friend. Here are some points to remember when you talk about friendships with your teenagers:
1) You are allowed to have many friends;
2) Honesty is important in a friendship;
3) Friends sometimes hurt each other, but they can say sorry and forgive(原谅);
4) Friends can influence each other, sometimes they will help you but sometimes they will hurt you, too.
5) Who you choose to be your friend is important, so choose wisely;
6) It takes many learned skills to make and keep a friendship, and it also takes many skills to end a friendship;
7) It is okay and even helpful to make friends with the opposite gender(异性);
8) It takes time to make a good friend, but it is worth the effort;
9) Spending time together will help you get to know your friends well and you will feel comfortable sharing feelings;
10) A good friendship will make you feel good about yourself.What should their parents do when teenagers make friends?

There is a famous saying from the French politician J.A. Brillat-Savarin that goes: “Tell me what kind of food you eat, and I will tell you what kind of man you are.” It can be easy to not really think about what you eat. For example, whenever you go into a supermarket to buy a drink, it is all too easy to pick up an ice cream or a piece of chocolate as well. You might not even really want them, but sometimes their bright, nice packaging(包装) can be too hard to refuse.
So, in our special food magazine we will show you why you should really pay more attention to what you eat! Food not only influences our health but also our beliefs, customs and personalities.
The first article will look at the way fast food is leading to obesity (肥胖). The famous cook, Jamie Oliver, has made it his purpose to introduce ideas about healthy eating. In a speech, Jamie Oliver told the world that during the 18 minutes that he gave his speech, four Americans would die because of the food that they ate! Obesity is also a growing problem in China. As China Daily reported in February, the number of obese people under the age of 18 in China has reached 120 million.
Jamie has worked for 10 years to try and fight this problem. Learning about food is important not just because of health problems but also because many people still don’t have enough food today. And we know as the improvement of science sometimes we have to face genetically modified (转基因) food. Don’t worry – we’ll make you know more about all these topics in our special article!

Hopefully by the time you finish reading this edition(版本), you’ll pay more attention to the food that you eat. As Oliver says, food is something that can help us enjoy our life. It is important that we love it!Where is J.A. Brillat-Savarin from?

We all, at one time or another , were like a rock star, singing and dancing along to our favourite song. Most of us have done this in our own room when we were kids or even when we grew up. Me? I love to do that when I drive! I turn on the radio, find a song that I can sing along, and soon my arms are in the air. I am moving along to the music. Most of the time, I do this on my way to work.
Yes, that is true. I will be in my nice work clothes in my car. Someone may look at me strangely or even laugh at me when I stopped at a traffic light. Personally I love to get lost in the music. That can lead me to share with you the importance of being silly!
The meaning of the word silly, according to the dictionary is : stupid, foolish and nonsensical. I know many people do not want to look foolish. So they are always serious in their life, but in fact that is really stupid.
No one is perfect, I repeat: no one is perfect. I don’t care how educated, how thin, how beautiful, how simple, how frugal(朴素的), how rich, and so on … No one is perfect! So why pretend(假装) to be something you are not?
Life is so short…_________, so why waste a single second on being so “perfect”?
When we were kids, we had no idea of fear and we had no care in the world so we could do things without worrying about how we appeared to others. However, as we grew up, we lost that kind of feeling.
So don’t be afraid to be silly. The next time you feel down, go and turn on your favourite song , sing and dance along just like there is no tomorrow. Or watch something that makes you laugh. Trust me, you will feel a whole lot better, and who doesn’t want to feel good.While driving to work, the writer often _______.
A.sings and moves along to the music |
B.laughs at others at the traffic lights |
C.pretends to be serious |
D.watches his favourite movies |
