Tips on taking exams
The following are a few study tips for high school students and college students, which will help you answer your exam papers with confidence. _________
It is better to have all the study materials available to you before you start reading. This not only includes your texts and notes but also the previous years’ notes and things like a dictionary and reference books. This has two advantages. Firstly, you do not need to break your concentration (专心) by searching for books. It saves time. Secondly, it gives you a feeling of being prepared for the exams, as you have all the necessary things and the only thing left its to start studying .__________
The most common mistake that students make is that they start studying a day or two before exams. You can’t revise (复习) all the notes if you study only two days before exams. Therefore, what most of the students do is study only the “so-called” important points. As a result , even if the test paper is easy , you get a low score only because you don’t know the entire syllabus (课程提纲). So start studying at least a month before the exams._________
If you have descriptive subjects, do not just remember the answers. Try to understand what you are reading, for this is the best methods for good recall at the time of exams. The major disadvantage of reciting is that if you forget one word of the answer during your exam, you tend to go completely blank. On the contrary (相反地), if you understand the subjects well, you can write the answer on your own at any time. For exams like math , practice at least five sums every day. Math cannot be learned in a day .________
The last tips is to study when you are in your best mentally active state. Some people are comfortable studying in the early morning, while some like studying at night. Find out the time when you are fresh and relaxed and choose that time for your studies.

Develop Better Relationships with Neighbors
Good neighbors are a lot like electricity or running water:we don’t know how much we depend on them until we don’t have them. They make our lives more pleasant and give us a sense of who we wrte, both as an individual and as a member of the community. Here is how to develop your relationships with these very important people in your life. _________ Often neighbors don’t even know each other’s names. But it’s okay to be the one to break the ice , even if you’ve lived next door for years. Most neighbors enjoy making small talk with the folks on the other side of the fence. So as you see them at work in their yards, smile, wave, and say hello. Ask how their kids are (whether they’re babies or in college), whether they could use an extra cucumber from your garden, or what they think of the price at the local supermarket.
_________ These days, the old Welcome Wagon is a thing of the past. But your new neighbors may be feeling lonely and unsure, especially if they’re far from home, and might appreciate a friendly face bearing fresh-baked chocolate cakes. If they have kids, tell them where the children in the neighborhood live. Recommend the best places to eat and sleep. Invite them over for coffee or tea when they get settled, give them your number, and point to your house as you say good-bye.
__________ Return anything that you borrow from a neighbor, such as tools, in good repair and as soon as you’ve finished with them. Replace anything that belongs to your neighbor that you, your children, or your pets break or soil. Make sure that your car is not blocking their doorway. Such random acts of consideration will have your neighbors talking—and the talk will be good.
__________ If you value a friendship with your neighbors, spend time with them. What better wayto meet your neighbors than to invite them to an informal barbecue, pool party, or holiday open house? Better yet, you might even consider throwing a get-together in their honor. Deliver the invitations in person to everyone who lives on your street and chat with each for five minutes before moving on to the next house. This way, you will get an idea of what your neighbors are like so that you can plan for appropriate food and music.
___________ In a good relationship, it’s really the little things that count. Help to bring in the mail for the elderly neighbor when there is a heavy rain. When your neighbor gorgets to take in his rubbish cans, roll them back into his yard. If you’re truly concerned, you’ll know when your neighbor needs some cheering up—a bunch of flowers or a helping hand when it’s needed. All it takes to developyour relationship with neighbors is the respect for their feelings.

Think ahead .The moments when I think cooking is a pain are when I’m already hungry and there’s nothing ready to eat .So think ahead of the coming week .When will you have time to cook ?Do you have the right materials already ? .
Make your time worth it .When you do find time to cook a meal , make the most of it and save yourself time later on .Are you making one loaf of bread ? .It takes around the same amount of time to make more of something .So save yourself the effort for future meal .
This may surprise you , but one of the best tools for making cooking worth your time is experimentation .It gives you the chance to hit upon new ideas and recipes that can work well with your appetite and schedule. The more you learn and the more you try, the more ability you have to take control of your food and your schedule.

I grow up in a very big family. My parents have raised twelve kids and I am their first-born. It has been my duty to help my mom take care of my brothers and sisters. To handle them, often I have to organize an outdoor activity, like a softball game. I must say that I have the potential to work as an instructor.
Last year, my dog got crippled after losing the fight to my neighbor’s bulldog. I rinsed its wound with some lotion and tied its leg with a stick. I had him take medicine every day for a full month. Finally he recovered. I think I can help the elderly and the disabled as well. I feel so good when I can offer help.
I am a film buff. A big fan of Antonio Banderas. He is so wild and charming. Because of him, I fell in love with Spain. The Latin dance and the bullfight are really exciting. Oh, if only I could stay in Spain as an exchange student! I would be learning Spanish so well that I can watch a Spanish film with the dubbing.
I had the experience of working as a social worker in Switzerland last summer. I love the country and its people. There are great mountains for climbers and the local people are so nice to strangers. I helped the kids with their English. My teaching skills improved greatly during my stay. Now I’m well prepared to work as a language instructor.
I spent my gap year traveling all over Africa last year. It was definitely an eye- opening experience. The exotic clothes and tribal dances of the people really fascinated me. But I was most amazed by the wildlife there. I really took great pleasure in watching those animals hunting their prey. You know, I specialize in zoology, and I’m a good observer.
