May I have your attention, please? I have anything important to tell you. Next Sunday afternoon, our class was going to hold an English story-telling competition in lecture hall. Everybody is required to take part in the activity. Two foreign teacher will be invited to act as judges. The activity will benefit from you in many ways.
For example, it will give us a good chance to practicing your oral English and train your communication skills. However, it will inspire your interest at English. The requirements are as follows. Life is full of ups and downs but it is never too easy to achieve success. As the old English say goes “Failure is the mother of success.” I was asked to play in a table tennis match last term. After the match, I was confident I would win. Therefore, I failed. How sadly I was! Luckily, my P.E. teacher helped me out. He told me not to lose my heart. He also helped me my skills. With his help, my confidence returned and I come up with several new idea. The next day, though I had to play against another more experience boy, I beat him. So don’t be afraid of failure. My father is now in his late forty but looks young for his age. He is very strict with me, especial in my studies. However, I know he loves me deeply in his heart. Once I fail to do well in my math exam, I was afraid of that it would make my father disappointing. On the contrary, he said I had tried my best and offered him a few word of encouragement. He said to me, “There is no need to feel bad about one or two failures and most important thing is to learn anything from failure and never give up.” Today is Father’s Day and I want to say thank you for my father.

Dear Tom,
In your e-mail you ask me about how to choose a university based on its location. If you choose an university in your country, you may be have more chances to go back home visit your parents. Also, it easy for you to adapt to the new environment. After all, there’s not much different between different cities in the same country.
If they intend to go to a university out of your country, you’ll have different experiences. Live in a strange country can strengthen your ability to adapt to a new situation, which is of great benefit to you. Beside, the new experiences in a new place enables you to broaden your horizons and enrich your knowledge.

My friend Henry, with him I studied in the same class, didn’t like studying at school. That’s because he couldn’t go to high school. With the summer vacation came around，many school leavers feel it great chance to enjoy themselves．Most of my classmate have plans to travel，which can broaden their views and add up to their life experience．There are also some students who would like to work for volunteers in the communities．Besides，quite a few students want to learn to drive，dance or cook with attending summer classes．As for me．I am looking forward to spend this precious time with my family before I left for my college．Hopeful，I can do something in return for our parents’love and care．
