If the temperature rises by 5 degrees tomorrow, you will probably take off just one coat. But such a change in the average world temperature would be a serious problem. Many animals and plants would not be able to deal with these changes, and would die.
The UNEP(联合国环境规划署) released(发布)the Report 2012 on November 21, 2012. It says that if we don’t take action now, the world temperature will have risen by 3 to 5 degrees by the end of this century.
A large rise in temperatures could be terrible for us and for many other living things on Earth. Sea levels will rise because higher temperatures will cause melting ice flow into the sea.Large coastal (沿海的) cities in countries such as the Netherlands and Bangladesh could be flooded.
Some plants such as corn and sugarcane (甘蔗) will not grow well in higher temperatures. Some countries, such as Brazil and parts of Africa, will not have enough food. The change may cause less rain and even make some places very dry.
On November 26, people from around 200 nations and regions gathered again in Doha (多哈) for the annual UN climate talks.“Climate change is coming to all human beings and effective actions need to be taken to deal with it.”president of the conference said at the opening ceremony. What will you probably do if the temperature rises by 5 degrees tomorrow?
When was the Report 2012 released by the UNEP?
Why will sea level rise?
Where did they attend the annual UN climate talks?
As a student, what action will you take to deal with the rising temperatures?(请自拟一句话)
Mark Twain, the famous American writer, was traveling in France. Once he was going by train to Dijon. Last Saturday, our school organized a talent show to raise money for charity. It was a great success. Students took an active part in it and we raised 20,000 yuan in all.
After the show I interviewed three students. First, I talked with Liu Li. In the talent show, she danced the ballet(芭蕾舞). “How long have you been dancing the ballet?” I asked. “For about six years.” she answered. “Why do you learn it?” “I think it’s beautiful and I want to be a professional dancer when I grow up.”
Next I had a talk with Zhao Qiang. He played a piece of Mozart’s music. He played wonderfully. I asked, “When did you start playing the piano?” “Um, I’m twelve now and I have been doing it since I was five.” he said. “Are you going to play the piano after you finish high school?” “Sure. My dream is to be a pianist.”
Finally, I asked Chen Yun, an 11-year-old girl. She sang us some folk songs(民歌). Her voice is very sweet. “Why are you interested in folk music?” I asked. “I admire Song Zuying and I want to be a singer like her. I have been singing folk songs since five years ago. I hope I can hold a singing concert in the future.” she said.

Your computer has been playing music for years, one CD at a time. Now hundreds of songs can be stored in your PC if they' re in the MP3 format (格式).
What is it? MP3 compressed(压缩) music into small computer files. You may download MP3 music several ways: Music can be downloaded from websites that have turned wide music libraries into MP3. Once MP3 music is on your PC’s hard drive, you can play it through your computer's speakers, "burn" it onto blank CDs or swap(交换) MP3 files with friends using e -mail. |
How much? Software needed to play and convert MP3 music is often free. Compact portable MP3 players start at around $ 40 and can hold hundreds of songs. A blank CD on which you can record music costs about a dollar. |
Advantages MP3 turns your home PC into a jukebox(自动唱机) . Small MP3 players are the size of a deck of cards(一副牌), making it easy to take hundreds of songs with you. Disadvantages You may find that some websites only allow you to listen but you can't download music. Others let you download music but can't be copied to MP3 players. And a growing number of new CDs make it impossible to copy songs to a computer. |
