Last Friday my friend Deborah asked me if I would like to learn how to make tofu. I couldn’t think of any good reason not to be interested in, so I said, "Yes". "Everything happens for the best," my mother said whenever things weren't going my way. "Don't worry. One day your luck will change."
Mother was right, as I discovered after I had finished my college education, I had decided to try for a job in radio. One day, I wanted to host a sports programme. I went to Chicago and knocked on the door of every station. But I got turned down every time.
