Years ago I worked at a factory in a small county. Every day I got up very early and often did much extra work at night. I was so tired and exhausted. My whole life was hopeless. Then one day I read the following article from a magazine:
"A woman went to live with her husband in camp on the Mojave Desert during the war. She simply hated the place: the heat was almost un-bearable, 125 degrees in the shade, the wind blew incessantly, and there was sand everywhere. Finally, in desperation (不顾一切地) she wrote her parents in Ohio that she couldn't stand it another minute and was coming home.
Quickly came the reply by airmail from her father——just two lines:
"Two men looked out from prison bars. One saw the mud, the other saw stars."
The daughter did some real thinking, not only with the intellect (思维) but also with her heart. She decided to stick to her post.
She made friends with the natives, learned to love the country, and eventually wrote a book about it.
The desert hadn't changed, but her attitude had. Because she listened with her heart to the words her father sent, a whole new world opened up to her.
A change of attitude could change everything.
After reading the article, I was deep in thought (陷入沉思)…At first, the woman the life with her husband in the desert.

The woman’s father wanted to tell his daughter to .

A.a woman went to live with her husband in camp. |
B.the desert hadn't changed, but her attitude had. |
C.the daughter's parents wanted her to stay with her husband. |
D.a change of attitude could change everything. |

The World Wide Web(www.万维网)turned 25 years old on March 12th. It has become a very important part in our daily lives. We can’t imagine living without the web, the short form of the World Wide Web.
In 1989, a British engineer named Tim Berners-Lee came up with the idea of the Web. It is a group of “pages” of information that are connected to each other around the world. That is the very beginning of the Web. Since then, the Web has greatly changed the way people live. With a click(点击)of a mouse we can read news, buy things, make friends and learn anything we’re interested in.
Now, 25 years after its birth, how will the Web influence life in the future? Scientists believe there are both advantages and disadvantages.
A growing Web will help build “better relationships” between different cultures. Also in the future, everyday items could be connected to the Web. We could share plenty of information to make our daily lives more convenient(方便的). So one day in the future, your front door could send you a message. “Dear sir, everyone has left the house, but I’ m still open!”
But scientists warn(警告)us that if we share personal information on the Internet it could get into the wrong hands.
“It’s not wise to spend a whole day in front of the screen. People need to get close to nature and enjoy the sun. Never be controlled by the Internet.” said Berners-Lee.How old is the World Wide Web?
Who came up with the idea of the Web?
