This is my third story. When I was 17,I read a quote(引用) that something like,If you live each day it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right. Since then, for the past thirtythree years,I’ve looked the mirror every morning and asked myself:If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today? And whenever the answer has been “No” for too many days in a ,I know I need to change something.
About a year ago I was with cancer. The doctors told me this was almost certainly a type of cancer that is incurable, and that I should to live no longer than three to six months. They advised me to go home and get my in order, which is doctors’ practice for prepare to .Later that evening when the doctors the cells taken from my pancreas(胰腺)under a microscope, they started crying because it turned out to be a very rare form of pancreatic cancer that is with surgery(外科手术).I had the surgery and, ,I’m fine now.
That was the closest I had been to facing death, and I hope it’s the closest I get for a few more decades. Death is the we all share. No one has escaped it. And that is it should be,because death is very likely the single invention of life. It’s life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make for the new. Your time is ,so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma(信条)—which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most importantly, have the courage to your heart and intuition(直觉).They already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

My sister and I grew up in a little village in England. Our father was a struggling , but I always knew he was special. He never us, but used praise to our best. He’d say, “If you pour water on flowers, they flourish. If you don’t give them , they die.” I remember as a child I said unkind about somebody, and my father said, “ time you say something unpleasant about somebody else, it’s a reflection of you.” He that if I looked for the best in people, I would get the best . Dad’s always been very understanding. At 15, I started a magazine. It was taking up a great of my time, and the headmaster of my school gave me a choice:stay in school or leave to my magazine.
I decided to leave, and Dad tried to sway(使动摇) me from my decision, any good father would. When he I had made up my mind, he said, “Richard, when I was 23, my dad persuaded me to go into law. And I’ve always it. I wanted to be a biologist, but I didn’t my dream. You know you want. Go fulfill it.”
As it , my little publication went on to become Student, a national magazine for young people in the U.K. My wife and I have two children, and I’d like to think we are bringing them in the same way Dad raise me.
