A person's nose is important for breathing and smelling. The nose is also used in many popular expressions.

Some people are able to lead other people by the nose. For example,if a wife leads her husband by the nose, she makes him do whatever she wants him to do.

Some people are said to be hard﹣nosed. They will not change their opinions easily. And many people will never pay through the nose, that is,they will not pay too much money for something.

It is always helpful when people keep their nose out of other people's business. The opposite of this is someone who noses around all the time. This kind of person is interested in other people's private matters. He is considered nosy.

And my teacher often says,"If you put your heart into it,the answers should be right under your nose."It means something can be found or seen easily.

As for ear, there are also some expressions.

When I want to say something to you,I hope you are all ears and listen carefully.I also advise you to keep your ear to the ground. This means to be interested in what is happening around you and what people are thinking.

Another expression about ear is to play it by ear.Someone is able to play a song or a piece of music by remembering the tune(旋律) and not by reading the music.

There are many other expressions about different parts of our body.

For example,if someone is playing a joke on you,you can say,"You are pulling my leg."And to turn your hand to something means to begin to do something. If a child does something wrong,we say he will get it in the neck,or he will be punished.

Most of my sweet memories are from my childhood. There are always so many interesting things in the far away village where I grew up.One thing that leaves a deep impression on me is shearing the sheep.

In my village, sheep are washed and sheared (剪毛) sometime in the month of June. This should be done quite early in the month, before the hot days begin.

It's best for the sheep to have the wool taken off,or they will be too hot in the summer time.

When the time comes for washing the sheep, they are driven to a pond or a little river.

Then they are thrown into the water, one at a time. The men who are in the water catch them, and wash them to get the dirt all out of the wool.

When the wool is dry,the sheep are taken to the shearer; and he cuts off the wool with a large pair of shears

In a short time, before the cold winter comes, new wool grows out on the sheep.By the coming of spring, there is so much that it must be cut off soon.

Recently we did a survey of students' dream jobs in our class. Here's the report about my group members' ideas.

Mary: I want to be a teacher when I grow up. I think I am very patient and I enjoy working with children. Now, I am interested in all the subjects and work very hard to learn them well. I can get along well with the teachers and make friends with students easily at school. I am sure the kids will like me.

Kate: I am slim and good at dancing and I would like to be a ballet dancer in the future. I spend most of my spare time on ballet training every day. After high school, I will learn dancing lessons in a college.

Mike: I would like to be a writer when I grow up. I like to share my wonderful stones with others. Now I keep reading and writing every day. I also send some of my stories to the magazines.

Lucy: I want to be a singer because I like singing very much. I practise singing every day.

People have their own dreams and work hard for them, because they all know it is not easy to realize them in the future.

A lot of people drink bottled water in the world. A water bottle offers great convenience. It can be bought almost anywhere, carried around for a while, and then thrown away.

The influence of bottled water on the environment, however, is very big. About 2.7million tons of plastic is turned into bottles which are only used once each year. This requires a lot of oil and water. It also produces greenhouse gases. Bottled water is often carried for long distances to reach people who buy it. This uses even more fossil fuels(化石燃料) and creates more pollution. Although the bottles can be recycled, only small parts of themare. The United States only recycles about 23percent. The rest are part of a growing waste problem.

Convenience isn't the only reason for bottled water to become popular. Many people believe that it must be cleaner and healthier than tap water from public water systems. But this is not true. In developed countries such as the United States and some countries in Europe, laws about safe water are often stricter for tap water than for bottled water.

It may come as a surprise that nearly 40percent of the water bottled in the United States starts from tap water. Before bottling, some companies filter(过滤)it, and they might add some things for taste. What's more, bottled water can cost from 240to 10, 000times more than tap water.

"Back to the tap" activities start around the world, In order to save money, use fewer resources, and create less waste, they support using tap water and reusable bottles rather than bottled water. San Francisco and other cities across the United States no longer allow their government departments to buy Many bottled water companies are trying to improve, too.
