A Frenchman is once visiting London. He wished to take a walk to see a city. But he was afraid he might get being lost because he knew no words of English. So after he left his hotel, he stopped on the first corner and carefully copied in his notebook the names of the street where he was staying. Then he walked on. At last, he got lost. In several hours he found a policeman .The Frenchman tried his best to explain the policeman that he didn’t know the name of his hotel, and he knew the name of the street. He then showed the policeman that he copied in his notebook. It was read : “One-way street”.

Never shall I forget the first English lesson giving by Miss Liu. One Monday morning , when she entered the classroom, we found out that she was a young and beautiful lady. Then she introduced her and said they shouldn’t call her Teacher Liu but Miss Liu. Late, she let us go to the blackboard and said something about ourselves in English in turn. When it was my turn, I felt too shy that I didn’t dare to say anything before the class. She went up to me and said kind, “Don’t be afraid. I’m a senior 3 student who take the College Entrance Exam soon．Now I have a problem in choosing my major．My parents want me to study international business．Therefore，my head teacher suggests that I chose software engineering．As for me，I have a total different idea from them．I want to take environmental science for my major so that I can use that I have learned to help improving the environment in my hometown after the graduation．But can I possibly make a decision on my own against the will of my parents and my teacher? In order to make best of learning materials, the Student’s Union of our school is planning an
activity. The school – leavers are called on to give away our used books, newspapers or magazines to the student in the lower grades. The idea, that is intended to promote friendship and encourage a low – carbon lifestyle, are highly praised and supported by the teachers and students alike. The activity will be hold on the first floor of the school library and so it will last eleven days, from June 10 to 20. as student, I am strong for the activity because it is very meaningful and helpful. I hope that this kind of activity would continue every year for the future.

All of us know the old saying “Practice make perfect．” It tells us unless we want to realize our aim, we should practise, and one day we will make it．It’s easy to understand．Once I wanted to learn swimming．At first I found difficult to control my body．I just sank into the water．I feel very frightened．Then I watched others who were good at them and asked them the key to succeed．I went to the swimming pool every day, learned from them and practised．A day, when my friend pushed me into the swimming poo1, I sudden found that I could swim．How exciting I was! Now I can swim much more better than before．
