首先,请阅读下列的应用文:
A. Chapter One. …you probably have an image in your mind of what the “perfect’ or “ideal” body looks like. Try not to press yourself to look that way. Each person is born with genes that control the shape of his/her body. Everyone is different. It’s important to be comfortable with the body you have.
B. Chapter Two. …You use energy for everything you do. That energy comes from the food you eat. Too much food or too little exercise causes your body to store the extra energy in fat cells. But, if you exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet, you’ll feel healthier and stronger not to mention look great.
C. Chapter Three. … Your body runs best on foods high in carbohydrates(碳水化合物) and low in fat and sugar. Eating a healthy diet will provide your body with everything it needs to run smoothly. Your body breaks down proteins into amino acids(氨基酸), so you don’t need to take in the amino acids separately.
D. Chapter Four. …Exercise does more than just burn calories. For instance, regular exercise makes your muscles strong and flexible, and increases the amount of muscle you have. It also makes your heart stronger and lowers your blood pressure; …
E. Chapter Five. …Always warm up and stretch for 5-10 minutes before you do strength or endurance exercises. Afterwards, take 10 minutes to cool down. Your heart should beat normally when you stop. Exercising with a group may help you to exercise regularly.
F. Chapter Six. …Supplementation of a mixture of essential amino acids will increase protein synthesis (蛋白质综合体). While supplementing with either carbohydrate or amino acids(氨基酸) may limit muscle damage and stimulate (激励) protein synthesis, there is increasing evidence that the combination can have an addictive effect.

Culture shock is a special disease for people who have suddenly moved to a foreign country. .
Culture shock is caused by the anxiety that results from losing all familiar signs of social communication. When to shake hands and what to say, when we meet people, when and how to give tips, how to do shopping, when to accept and refuse invitations, when to take statements seriously and when not. These signs, which may be words, gestures, facial expressions, or customs, are acquired(获得) by all of us in the course of growing up and as much a part of our culture as the language we speak or the beliefs we accept..
Now when a person enters a strange culture, all or most of these familiar signs are removed. No matter how broadminded will you may be, a series of supports have been knocked from under you, followed by a feeling of failure in much the same way.“The ways of the host country are bad because they make us feel bad.” When foreigners in a strange land get together to complain about the host country and its people, you can be sure that they are suffering from culture shock.
Another phrase of culture shock is regression(退化). The home environment suddenly becomes very important. To the foreigner, everything becomes unreasonably beautified. All the difficulties and problems are forgotten and only the good things back home are remembered. .

A.Nowadays a lot of people work at home.
B.The children are taught to respect different cultures .
C.Like most illnesses, it has its own symptoms(病症) and cures.
D.It usually takes a trip home to bring one back to reality.

E. First they reject the environment which causes discomfort.

Making Peace with Your Parents
As a teen, you’re going through big changes physically and mentally. Your interests are expanding. .
Here is the challenge: Kids need to explore the world in new ways, and parents need to protect them from the dangers that are out in that world. These conflicts can easily set off fireworks in otherwise calm houses. Sometimes conflicts can’t be avoided. But by paying attention to the building blocks of successful relationships, you can work towards making home a happy and healthy place for you and your parents.
For instance, try to find a time to talk when your parents are not angry, tired, distracted, or hungry. A good time to talk is when you’re all relaxed. Timing is everything. If the conversation begins to turn into an argument, you’d better calmly and coolly ask to stop the conversation --- for now.. Listen to what your parents are saying, and repeat it back to them. This shows them that you’re listening..
Respect is the building block of good communication. People who respect each other and care about each others’ feelings can disagree without things getting ugly.
. How do you build trust? Trust comes by actually doing what you say you’re going to do. Some teens find that doing fun activities with their parents can improve their relationships. Sometimes we forget that parents are more than rule-makers --- they’re interesting people who like to watch movies, and go shopping --- just like their teenagers!
What do you do if you are trying your best, but your relationship with your parents continues to be rocky?. You can find supportive adults, such as a teacher or a coach, who can lend an ear.
Remember you can only change your own behavior. You parents are the only ones who can change theirs.

A.It also gives them a chance to clear things up if you’re not on the same page.
B.You can pick it up again when everyone’s more relaxed.
C.And then you’ll be able to accept what your parents say.
D.Faced with the challenge, children don’t know what to do.

E.You are more likely to get along with your parents and have more independence if your parents believe in you.
F.And your desire to take control of your own life is growing.
