Our most commonly held code for success is broken. Conventional wisdom holds that if we work hard we will be more successful, and if we are more successful, then we’ll be happy. If we can just find that great job, win that next promotion, lose those five pounds, happiness will follow. But recent discoveries in the field of positive psychology have shown that this code is actually backward: Happiness fuels success, not the other way around. When we are positive, our brains become more engaged, creative, motivated, energetic, and productive at work. This discovery has been repeatedly borne out by rigid research in psychology and neuroscience(神经学), management studies, and the bottom lines of organizations around the globe.
In The Happiness Advantage, Shawn Achor, who spent over a decade living, researching, and lecturing at Harvard University, draws on his own research—including one of the largest studies of happiness and potential at Harvard and others at companies like UBS to fix this broken code. Using stories and case studies from his work with CEOs of Fortune 500 in 42 countries, Achor explains how we can reprogram our brains to become more positive in order to gain a competitive ability at work.
Based on seven practical, actionable principles that have been tried and tested everywhere from classrooms to boardrooms, stretching from Argentina to Zimbabwe, he shows us how we can capitalize on the Happiness Advantage to improve our performance and maximize our potential.
A must-read for everyone trying to stand out in a world of increasing workloads and stress, The Happiness Advantage isn’t only about how to become happier at work. It’s about how to acquire the benefits of a happier and more positive mode of thinking to achieve the extraordinary in our work and in our lives.
Which of the following is the traditional code for success?

A.Hard word→success→happiness.

Every Christmas the giant tree in Rockefeller Center sparkles with thousands of lights. From the beginning, when construction workers raised the first one during the depths of the Depression, it has been a symbol of hope. Diana Abad, like most Americans, loved that tree.
In 1999, however, Diana was writing her will. The 33-year-old woman from Staten Island, New York, was diagnosed with leukemia(白血病)and wanted to put her things in order. Doctors told her she had nine months to live.
Her slim chance for survival lay in finding a bone marrow(骨髓)donor. The most likely source for a match is always among relatives -- but her family was tested and there was none.
Then one day in February 2000, she got a call from the hospital saying that out of the four million people enrolled in the National Marrow Donor Program Registry, there was only one match. The potential donor was thinking about it. In March the donor agreed, and the transplant procedure was scheduled for March 27.
On that day, a doctor came in with the marrow in a bag, and Diana remembers him saying: “This is it. If it doesn’t graft within four to six hours, nothing will bring you back.” Diana asked a priest (牧师)to give her last rite(祈祷).
Almost immediately after the two-hour procedure, she felt stronger. Doctors told her it looked like the graft had taken.
Donors are anonymous, but when she was better, Diana sent a note through the Registry: “You don’t know the joy that I am experiencing,” she wrote. “I hope that one day we can meet and I can thank you in person.”
It was several months before the donor replied. At first he didn’t even give his name. He was 34-year-old David Mason, and he lived in Dedham, Massachusetts. But eventually the two exchanged phone numbers and began to talk.
Then unexpectedly and unannounced, he turned up at her door in Englishtown, New Jersey, on December 23. She says it was love at first sight. He says he didn’t feel it until they met the second time.
That meeting began a long-distance romance that culminated(修成正果)under the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center in December 2004. That’s where David proposed(求婚)to Diana. She, of course, said yes.

Nowadays , people in China are increasingly interested in celebrating foreign festival , especially those western festivals .
A survey conducted recently by sina.Com showed that among the 18,222 people surveyed 63.9% said celebrating Christmas is just another way of recreation ,nothing serious while 17.85% surveyed considered the festival as a fashion act , showing they were not "out".These two parts clearly indicate the general opinion of the young .10.45 percent people involved said the celebration of a religious western festival with so much enthusiasm is absolutely ridiculous pursuit of foreign goodness .Only 7.8% of people define Christmas as a kind of festival colonization(殖民)。
The arising of celebrating foreign festivals clearly has something to do with the advancement of China's economy .In my opinion of view ,Christmas and other festivals celebrated in China have difference from the origin .They have lost their religious background and turned into a big occasion to have fun and enjoy life .Shop owners' pockets are filled, the public's hunger for happiness is filled , and that is enough . Foreign festivals in china are more like carnivals giving people pleasure and enjoyment .
The crisis (危机)of traditional Chinese festivals that are losing their attraction may be linked to the culture tradition and background of the festivals. Most Chinese festival culture is related more or less to real life.
But the western culture shows much of romance .Some festivals have their religious background while others have much to do with culture and people .At this point , food seems to be too plain .Flowers and chocolates are more welcomed.
Foreign festivals in China today are celebrated for fun . They give people opportunities to relax and to show appreciation and gratefulness . The acceptance of foreign festivals generally depends on the openness of the public , the familiarity with the western culture , and most importantly , on people's economic status.
60 From the survey we know that among the people surveyed _________

A Foreign festivals can make Chinese shop owners'pockets full quickly
B The food at foreign festivals is too simple
C Chinese festivals always have something to do with culture
D Foreign festivals are romantic while traditional Chinese ones are connected with reality
63. Which of the following may NOT be the reason why so many people accept foreign festivals?
