Is your TV connected to the Internet? What about your chair or your fridge? It is possible that they are not. But in the future, most things in your home may be connected, as the so-called "Internet of things" is developing.
The Internet of things may be coming sooner than you think. It is reported that during his speech earlier this year, Samsung CEO(首席执行官)BK Yoon spent a lot of time talking about the Internet of things. He said that five years from now, every Samsung product will be part of the Internet of things, whether it's a washing machine or a vacuum cleaner(吸尘器).
So, how do household(家用)objects that are part of Internet of things work? Well, think of a usual chair. When connected to the Internet, the chair warms up when it knows that the user has just walked into the room and is feeling cold.
An Internet-connected camera, like a smart-home camera, could help people feel safer in their homes. It can recognize(识别)people's faces, and even can see when someone passes by in the dark. Then it can send you a message on your smartphone to let you know who's there. If the person is someone you don't know, it can tell you that, too.
But according to MIT Technology Review, whether companies are connecting dog food bowls or security(安全)systems to the Internet, there may be problems. For example, many early connected-home devices(装置)don't have much built-in security, which means they could be hacked(被黑客攻击),In addition, it could be difficult to get these devices to work together because they are made by different companies. To fight this, many companies have joined the Open Interconnect Consortium, which had 45 members by late 2014.
So, picture this: you walk in through the front door of your home. The temperature changes to make you feel comfortable after a long day at school. Your favorite music starts playing for you. Do you think that this would be a good thing? It may happen sooner than you think. The Samsung CEO's speech is mentioned to prove that_____.

Have you ever had the strange feeling that you were being watched? You turned around and, sure enough, someone was looking right at you!
Parapsychologists (灵学家) say that humans have a natural ability to sense when someone is looking at them. To research whether such a “sixth sense” really exists, Robert Baker, a psychologist (心理学家) at the University of Kentucky, did two experiments.
In the first one, Baker sat behind unknowing people in public places and stared at the backs of their heads for 5 to 15 minutes. The subjects(受试者)were eating, drinking, reading, studying, watching TV, or working at a computer. Baker made sure that the people could not tell that he was sitting behind them during those periods. Later, when he questioned the subjects, almost all of them said they had no sense that someone was staring at them. For the second experiment, Baker told the subjects that they would be stared at from time to time from behind in a laboratory setting. The people had to write down when they felt they were being stared at and when they weren’t. Baker found that the subjects were no better at telling when they were stared at and when they weren’t.
Baker concludes that people do not have the ability to sense when they’re being stared at. If people doubt the of his two experiments, said Baker, “I suggest they repeat the experiments and see for themselves.”What’s the aim of the two experiments for?

We all have our own ways of sharing our life experiences with others. Photographers use cameras, artists use brushes, musicians use songs and writers use stories.
Spencer Johnson’s story Who moved My cheese? shows changes exist (存在于)in our life.
Life changes and so do we. We must change ourselves to face the changing environment, or we will fail. Just look at the cycle(循环) of the seasons. Trees bud(发芽)in spring and in summer their leaves turn green. In autumn their leaves start to fall onto the ground. When winter arrives, there are no leaves on trees. Next spring the cycle begins again. We know it is colder in winter and hotter in summer, so we can dress properly.
Since we accept the cycle of nature, we should also accept the changes in our life.
We can prepare ourselves for changes by becoming more flexible(灵活的). We can regard the changes in our life as chances. As long as we keep changing ourselves, we can keep up with the changes in our life. What’ the main idea of this passage?
How do writers share their life experiences?

By my eighth grade, I was a kid who felt unsafe, unloved and pretty angry at life. In other words, I behaved badly in school. However, my teacher, Ms. Simon, of course, thought that I was blind to this problem because she always reminded me, “Henry, you are the worst behaved child in this school”
Needless to say, the eighth grade was probably the worst year of my life. Good thing was that I was allowed to go to the ninth grade. But Ms. Simon’s words were always ringing in my ears.
The first day I entered the ninth grade, my teacher, Miss Brown, began to call our names. And it wasn’t long before she came to my name. “Henry,” she called out, looking from her list to where I was sitting. She looked at me carefully for a moment, and then said, “I’ve heard a lot about you.” Then she smiled and added, “But I don’t believe a word of it!”
To be honest, that moment was a turning point, not only in my education, but also in my life. Suddenly, unexpectedly, someone believed in me. For the first time in my life, someone saw potential(潜力) in me. Miss Brown often gave me little jobs to do. She invited me to stay after school to work on my reading and math. She challenged me to let her down. So I studied really hard that even my own father couldn’t believe that I was changing.
What made me the difference between the eighth grade and ninth grade? It was that risky, because there was no promise that I would honor Ms. Brown’s trust.
Everyone likes the end product of teaching, especially when it produces excellent men, the sports star, the successful business persons, the smart lawyer.
