What should you take in with you when you take an exam? Pen, pencil, eraser, ruler..., and don’t forget a bottle of water!
According to a study at the British Psychological (心理学的) Society Annual Conference held in London, if students bring water into exams, they may improve their grades by up to 10 percent.
Scientists at the University of East London and the University of Westminster, UK, did a study on 447 students. Only 25 percent of them brought something to drink to the exam hall.
Scientists then compared their exam results with their normal schoolwork grades. They found that all those who had brought drinks with them got better grades by 2 to 10 percent.
It is unclear why drinking water improves exam results. But scientists say having enough water in our bodies could have a helpful influence on our brains. Drinking water may also cut down on anxiety(焦虑) , according to Chris Pawson, PhD, of the University of East London.
"Whatever the explanation, it is clear that students should try hard to stay hydrated(含水的)with water during exams," he said.
So next time, when you are going to have a big exam, try bringing a bottle of water with you. Who knows - it may help you pass the exam!

Singles Day (光棍节)falls on every November 11th, and as the name suggests, this holiday is one specially for people who are still living the single life. It’s surprising that China is the only country in the world that has set up a special day for singles to celebrate(庆祝) their lives. To find out more about this celebration, read on.
An old story goes that once there were four single men, leading very boring lives. None of them were married(结婚), or had lovers, or did anything exciting. They just sat around all day and played Mahjong(麻将).
One day they played Mahjong from 11am until 11 pm. During the game, no matter who won, the winning card was always the 'Sitiao' card. And that day happened to be November 11th. In order to remember the day, they called it Singles Day.
For breakfast on Singles Day, singles often eat four youtiao, which means the four "ones" in "11.11". Many singles also choose to say goodbye to their single lives on this day. Huge food waste is usually seen in wedding banquets(婚宴) , birthday banquets and business meals. When packing leftovers, take staple foods(主食) such as steamed bread. However, leftovers of cold dishes should not be packed up, because the cold dishes can not be heated after being brought home and may go bad and cause illness. Also, leftovers should be kept in the right way after being brought home. Food should be kept at temperatures below 10 ℃ or higher than 70 ℃.But if the packed food is put under room temperatures, they should be eaten within four hours.
