When talking about picking a right school,a mother and teacher gave some pieces of advice.
In the latest issue (期) of Youth magazine, the mother shared the school advice she gave her daughters with young people across the country.
"I've told my daughters many times that I don't want them to choose a name,"the mother said."I don't want them to think,'Oh,I should go to these top schools.'We live in a country with hundreds of excellent universities. So the first question is:what's going to work for me?"
"When it was time to prepare for picking schools, nobody around me believed I could get into Xiamen University. But through hard work I finally made it,"she continued."So,my second piece of advice is:believe in yourself,no matter what other people might say.Once your goal is set,you only need to try your best to make it come true."
"The last piece of advice is not to be worried even if your dreams don't come true.As I've siad above, there are so many good universities out there. So it's important for everybody to understand that you can always find a university that gives you a great education."

Boys and girls, welcome to our radio club! Our club is very important in our school now. It was started by Tom ten years ago. When he found it was too quiet during the lunch time, Tom advised the headmaster(校长) to set up a radio club, and he agreed. What great advice! Thanks to Tom, we have had many different programmes to listen to at lunch time from then on. There is Music Time for us to hear popular music. And you can hear your favourite songs if you tell us ahead of time. We can give advice on problems, too. For example, how we prepare for exams and how we make friends. And we can also send your best wishes to your friends or teachers on special days. Do you have a good voice? Can you come here to work on time? If the two answers are “Yes”, join us now, please!

Today sending text messages(短信) through mobile phone(手机) is a part of our lives. According to a survey(调查), a third of the U.S. children send more than 100 text messages a day. Sending text messages is becoming more and more popular among young people in China, too. Children prefer text messages to communicate(交流) with friends no matter(不论) where they are, even under the noses of parents and teachers. It seems that some children are “addicted(上瘾)” to sending text messages. In fact, sending too many text messages is bad for their lives, health and study. However, it isn’t all bad. It helps to improve our lives in some ways. Today many children greet(问候) each other on holidays by sending text messages instead of writing paper cards. During the last Spring Festival, more than 15 billion(十亿) text messages were sent in China. “Sending text messages helps save my pocket money,” said Wang Cheng, a friend of mine, “and it saves paper, too.” Many parents send their kids text messages instead of giving orders by mouth. Last week my youngest son and I visited my father at his new house in Arizona. He moved there a few years ago, and I wanted very much to see his new place and meet his friends.
In my earliest memories my father was a tall, handsome and successful man. He loved his work and family, but was uncomfortable with his children. As a child I loved him; as a school girl and young adult I was afraid of him. He seemed unhappy with me unless I got straight A’s in my study and unhappy with my boyfriends if their fathers were not as “successful” as he was. Whenever I went out with him on weekends, I used to try hard to think up things to say to protect myself.
On the first day of my visit, we went out with one of my father’s friends for lunch. We walked along that afternoon, did some shopping, ate on the street table, and laughed over my son’s funny talks. My father’s critical(挑剔的)air and strict rules were gone. He seemed so friendly and interesting to be with us.
The next day my dad pulled out his childhood pictures and told me many stories about his own childhood. Although our times together became easier over the years, I never felt closer to him at that moment. After so many years, I’m at last seeing another side of my father. And in so doing, I’m happy with my new friend. My dad, in this new home in Arizona, is back to me from where he was.
