A 12﹣year﹣old boy named Tim Brown got lost in the mountains. However,he survived at last thanks to his amazing survival(生存,幸存)skills.
One day in October 2016,Tim went hiking with his group in the Magaliesberg Mountains,South Africa. At first, everything went well. But at about one o'clock in the afternoon,he lost his way and couldn't find any other people. He got scared at first, but then he tried to calm down.He knew what to do in such a situation."I should follow the river, follow the light, follow the sun and finally there will be buildings, roads and people and I could call home,"he told himself.
Tim kept walking.Suddenly he heard some sounds and ran towards them. But to his surprise,he saw some baboons(狒狒).Unluckily, one baboon scratched (抓伤)his arm.He found some water to wash the blood off the scratches and continued to walk.Tim just wore a pair of swimming minks (游泳裤),so he felt very cold.He tried to keep warm by covering his body with leaves.About 22 hours later,he finally met a farmer and was able to call his mom.
After he came back, his mom asked why he carried on walking when it got dark. The little boy said if he did that,he would see her again.Nothing could beat his love for his mom!

It did not look at the customers’ names. It paid the money on these deposit forms into the thief’s account .

Michael Jordon is the greatest basketball player of all time. Once he was making a television advertisement, all he needed to do was to miss a shot.
For Michael, this was difficult. He had conditioned(定位) himself to succeed whenever he was throwing the ball. Every time he threw a basketball, it went in. Every time he tried to miss a shot, he couldn’t. In total, it took him over 20 attempts (尝试) before he missed a shot.
For Michael, success is a strong habit. It took him a lot of time to break it. Just like drinking, smoking and collecting things, success is also a habit. Once it is formed, it is difficult to break. Many people think that success is difficult to keep. They feel that it will be hard work and will need too much action and focus. The truth is that it is simply a habit, and as easy to keep as any other habit.
Spend some time making success a habit in your life. Once you have developed it, it is not something you want to change again. In the advertisement Michael Jordon needed to ______________.

Some people say Jacky Cheung is the best Chinese singer. I don’t think so! Andy Lau is the best. I went to his concert last year. It was so hard to believe, I almost cried! OK, I did cry. That’s because Andy Lau is so handsome! |

I don’t agree at all. Andy Lau sounds like every other singer. His voice is nothing special. However, Jacky Cheung’s is different from others’, and his songs are so romantic! |

I think they are about the same. But Jacky Cheung is really a better actor. I’ve seen almost all of his movies. Remember the one that he played the lead role of an airplane pilot in, and his plane hit a hill. I love that movie! |

I also think Jacky Cheung is a better singer, I prefer his Cantonese(粤语) songs. Maybe they sound better because Cantonese is his first language. |

Good morning, boys and girl. Today I’ll talk about going online.
We know that there are too many net bars around us. The Internet can make our lives interesting and enjoyable(令人愉快的). Many of us like going online very much because we can learn how to use the computer. We can learn English and read some newspapers and magazines to know more around us. It can make us clever in playing computer games. Also when we can send e-mails to our friends, they can get them at once. It can help us contact(交流) people from all over the world.
But some students spend too much time playing computer games and some stay in the net bars all day and all night. Some girls even get to have boyfriends or some boys get to have girlfriends online. They write too many letters to each other. It takes them too much time to chat online so they do worse in their lessons and they don’t study well any more. I think we mustn’t get online when it is time for us to study. We can do it in summer or winter holidays. I think we should get online with our teachers or parents.
At the same time, if we have lots of free time, we can do some activities after school. We usually have activities from 4:50 to 5:50 in the afternoon . You can play basket ball or football. We also have some interest groups in school, such as drawing, singing and dancing. We can go to the English corner on Monday afternoon. We hope we can spend more time on our subjects or on such activities that we can learn a lot from and less time on the Internet.

When something goes wrong,it can be very satisfying to say,“Well, it’s so-and-so’s mistake.”or “I know I’m late, but it’s not my mistake;the car broke down.”It is probably not your mistake, but once you form the habit of blaming somebody or something else for a bad situation, you are a loser You have no power and could do nothing that helps change the situation. However, you can have great power over what happens to you if you stop focusing on whom to blame and start focusing on how to remedy the situation. This is the winner’s key to success.
Winners are good at dealing with problems. For example, if you were late because your car broke down, maybe you need to have your car checked more regularly. Or, you might start to carry the useful phone numbers with you, so you could call for help when in need. For another example, if your colleague(同事) causes you problems on the job for lack of responsibility or ability, find ways of dealing with his irresponsibility or inability rather than simply blame the person. Ask to work with a different person, or don’t depend on the person. You should accept that the person is not reliable and find creative ways to work successfully regardless of how your colleague fails to do his job well.
This is what being a winner is all about-creatively using your skills and talents so that you are successful no matter what happens. Winners don’t have fewer problems in their lives; they have just as many difficult situations to face as anybody else. They are just better at seeing those problems as challenges and opportunities to develop their own talents. So, stop focusing on “whose mistake it is.” Once you are confident about your power over bad situations, problems are just stepping stop on for success.According to the passage, winners___________ .
