When I got into college, things(5) . I suddenly found myself out of class before noon time. Because of all this (6) time, there was no sense of (7) to do my school work immediately. I was performing this action of waiting until it later became a (8) . Once that happened, I just kept(9) my studying further and further back in my day. Then I got to the point where I was (10) really late at night to get my work done.
One day I(11) a former classmate of mine who was (12) a lot of money running a sideline (副业). Since his regular job was (13) , I asked him why he just didn't do his sideline full﹣time. He said without the job, he would (14) have too much time and would just do what I did back in(15) . He said that if he (16) the job, he would lose his (17) to work and succeed.

I grew up poor – living with six brothers, my father and a wonderful mother. We had 36 money and few worldly goods, but plenty of love and attention. I was 37 and energetic. I understood that no matter how poor a person was, they could 38 afford a dream.
My dream was to be a 39 . When I was sixteen, I could crush a baseball, throw a ninety – mile – per – hour fastball. I was also 40 : my high – school coach was Ollie Jarvis, who 41 me the difference between having a dream and showing strong belief. One particular 42 with him changed my life forever.
It was a summer and a friend recommended me for a summer 43 . This meant a chance for my first income – cash for a new bike and new clothes, and the 44 of savings for a house for my mother. The opportunity was attracting, and I wanted to 45 at it.
Then I realized I would have to 46 summer baseball to handle the work schedule, and that meant I would have to tell Coach Jarvis I wouldn’t be playing. I was 47 about this.
When I told Coach Jarvis, he was as 48 as I expected him to be. “You have your whole life to work,” he said. “Your 49 days are limited. You can’t afford to waste them.”
I stood before him with my head 50 , trying to think of how to explain to him why my dream of buying my mom a house and having money in my pocket was worth 51 his disappointment in me.
“How much are you going to make at this job?” he demanded.
“$ 3.25 an hour,” I replied.
“Well, is $ 3.25 an hour the price of a 52 ?” he asked.
That 53 laid bare for me the difference between wanting something right now and having a goal. I devoted myself to 54 that summer, and within the year I was offered a $ 20,000 contract. I signed with the Denver Broncos in 1984 for $ 1.7 million, and bought my mother the 55 of my dreams.

Last summer a tornado hit a small town nearby. I saw in the local newspaper a picture of a young woman a little boy and a younger 36 standing in front of a totally destroyed house eyes wide open with 37 .I noticed their clothing 38 closely matched ours. This would be a good opportunity to teach my children to help those less 39.
I 40 their situation to my seven-year-old twins, Brad and Martin, and 41 the boys to donate some of their less favorite toys. The boys watched in surprise 48 their baby sister placed Lucy in the 49 . While I stared at Meghan, reflecting upon my donation, they went, without a word, to their room and both 50 with their valued items. Never would I forget the other night when I came across an unforgettable sight while watching the Olympics. It was not a gold medal, or a world record broken, but a 36 of determination and courage.
The 37 was swimming and started with only three men on the blocks. Two of them, however, were disqualified(取消资格) due to 38 starts. That left only one to 39 . That would have been difficult enough, not having anyone to race 40 . I watched the man dive off the 41 and knew right away that something was 42 . Now I’m not an expert swimmer but I do know a good dive from a poor one, and this man was far from being a medal winner. When he 43 , it was clear that the man was not out for gold. I listened to the crowd begin to 44 at this poor man that was clearly having a 45 time. Finally he 46 his turn to start back. It was pitiful. He made a few all-out strokes(划水) and you could 47 he was worn out.
__48___in those few awkward strokes, the crowd had ____49____. No longer were they laughing, but beginning to ____50____. Some ____51___began to stand and yell things like, “Come on, you can do it!” and, “Go for it!” He did. A clear minute slower than the average swimmer, this young man finally finished his 52 . The crowd went 53 . You would have thought that he had won the gold, and he should have. Even though he recorded one of the slowest times in Olympic history, this man gave more heart than any of the other 54 .
A man that gave his all -- knowing that he had no chance, but competed because of the 55 of the games.
