How to Simplify Your Life
Less is more. This is why we say: reduce things by half instead of doubling them, get rid of junk instead of piling it up, relax instead of stressing, slow down instead of speeding up. Apply these principles in your everyday life in a conscious way. You will then find yourself well along on your journey to simplification.________
When you concentrate on one task, you find you have energy that you didn't even know you had. Just imagine: you are at a fair and you have to carry two heavy pigs over 100 yards. If you keep grabbing one and then the other, it will take forever, because one of them will keep slipping out from under your arm and running off. But if you tie one pig in a place, pick up the other, gather all your strength and make a dash for the finish line, pause for a moment, run back and get the other one, and with great determination, carry the second pig to the finish line, then you can be sure of success.________
The pressure at work is on the increase in all occupations. In the modern nuclear family, the expectations that formerly would have been shared among all the relatives are now concentrated on the individual partner.
If you have the feeling that 24 hours per day are not enough for all the things you need to do, then it's not because the day has too few hours, but because you have too many activities. A simple fact that overloaded people often tend to forget. The solution is equally simple: refuse to accept so many work assignments in your private life or your working life.________
"I can handle stress" is regarded as a positive statement in the world of work. People who can handle stress are given more and more to cope with — until one day they break.
Pay careful attention to the signs that tell you that you are under more stress than you can cope with. These signals came from various areas of life. You become ill, or your work efficiency decreases.
If you have any of these symptoms, change your life goals and decrease your tolerance of stress. Say quite openly, "I can't manage that."________
"If only I were slimmer, more beautiful, richer, more clever, then I would be happier." This is a dream that makes a lot of people ill, depressed, and unhappy. Life has its flaws, defects, comets, and edges. Only those who accept this reality can lead a really full life.
Of course there are activities in which errors are dangerous; driving a car, crossing the road. But life doesn't consist entirely of these things. In among them there is a lot of room for small and large mistakes.________
Successful people all have their own places where they can withdraw in order to work. Find out which places improve your creativity. For me it's the train. When I know that I'm going to be traveling for four hours without phone calls and people knocking on my door, I find my mind is free and I can read or write complex articles. There can be problems working on the train, of course: if the person sitting opposite you keeps talking away, or if train trips make you tired (some people fall asleep after a few miles).
Regardless of the difficulties you may face, it’s getting support and moving forward that counts(重要) the most when you need to deal with hardships.
Write or talk about how you feel.
Keeping my feelings to myself used to make me feel lonely, but when I found someone who actually cared about me, it became natural to share how I felt with him and that contributed to my ability to overcome troublesome situation. Although talking to strangers about your problems may seem crazy, it actually isn’t.
It is said that running away from your problems will never help, and though that is partially true, it doesn’t mean that you need to go so deeply in a situation that you run out of air to breathe and lose the ability to make your choices. It is why it’s important to separate yourself from a situation long enough to think clearly.
Remind yourself that you are not alone.
Regardless of who or what you depend on, you need to remind yourself that you are not alone; you have people who do care. Sometimes it’s strangers who may share the same feeling as you do. Think about it---- you may not know any readers personally but they could be in the exact same situation as you, so in fact, no one is truly alone.
Accept the results and get support againWhether the results of your choices proved to be helpful or not, it’s time for you to accept them and get support. This time you have a new experience go add to your book of life so the next time something tries to knock you down, it won’t be easy because you will be strong and determined to push forward.

They are both so much related to each other. And both are so dissimilar!. What are the difference between friendship and love? Is platonic(柏拉图式的)friendship possible between persons of the opposite sex?
What is friendship? Why do we call a person our friend? When do we call someone a very good friend? If we care for a person, if we are always ready to help that person and if we share most of our thoughts with a person, they are our good friends. We can always count upon our good friends in an emergency. We are always sure that our friends will understand why we acted in a certain way.The friendship is so deep and the relationship is so intimate, that most of the things automatically understood by our friends.
In a relationship of deep love, all the sharing that we discussed above is taken for granted. But love transcends(超出)all this. During love, we are attached with a particular person, while in friendship, one many have many friends. A loving relationship makes one so much attached to the other that one gets pained if his/her beloved is hurt! Love also involves a physical element.
This is a vital difference. Nature gives us love so that the species can go forward. Nature does not give us friendship.
Your heart beats will never increase in anticipation of meeting your friend. You will not feel totally lost if you don’t meet your friend for a few days. You will not have dreams in your eyes thinking about your friendship.

For millions of years, coral reefs(珊瑚礁)have provided homes and food for thousands of different living things. Fish and sea birds share the reef with other creatures. Now these beautiful places are in danger. Scientists have found that more than one-fourth of the earth’s coral reefs have been ruined so far. Another quarter will disappear in ten years’ time. Unless things change, all of the remaining reefs may die within your lifetime.
Some people think that coral is stone because of its rough(粗糙的), hard surface. But coral is an animal. Tiny polyps(水螅体)form the coral reefs. These colors come from the algae(海藻)living inside the coral. Billions of coral polyps stick together. New ones grow on the dead ones. This happens year after year. Over time, the coral builds up a reef. The reef rises from the ocean floor until it almost reaches the sea’s surface. It takes coral 500,000 years to build a huge reef.
The coral reefs have been harmed mainly in three ways. The first factor is pollution on land. The pollutants run with rainwater into streams and rivers, which carry the poisons into the ocean. So they will be easily infected with diseases. Another cause is people. People have broken off pieces of coral, which they want to sell or keep as souvenirs. People have dropped sticks of dynamite(炸药)into the water to catch more fish. The worst problem is the heating up of the oceans. Higher ocean temperatures kill the important food source for the coral—the algae, the tiny greenish-gold water plants that live on coral.
The coral turns white and dies. Scientists call this coral bleaching(珊瑚白化). The bleached part of the coral reef cannot recover.
A.They come in many different colors. |
B.However, humans have taken less than 100 years to destroy it. |
C.This has blown up parts of the reefs. |
D.When the algae die, the coral loses both its food and its color. |
E. So are all the sea plants and animals that depend on them.
F. Chemicals from the poisons kill reefs or make them weak.
G. Many of them might not even last that long!
