For John and Amy, birthdays have always been a big deal—a welcome excuse to celebrate life. When their son, Alex, three in 2005, they invited 20 friends to a nearby park. Not long after that the were brainstorming ways to teach Alex about giving to 1 . “We wanted to do something that would have a(n) on our community(社区), and that our young child could in. We started wondering what fortunate kids do on their birthdays. The next day, we called a local shelter, and learnt that children typically didn’t do to celebrate at all. No cake. No gifts. No party.” The couple said.
Several weeks later, threw a party at the for the children who had birthdays that month. They decorated, served cake, and danced with 50 kids. Alex helped presents.

To date, Birthday Blessings (birthdayblessings.org.) has thrown more than 500 at different shelters and handed out 22,000 party to nearly 4,000 homeless children in and around their community.
Birthday Blessings is entirely by volunteers. The charity(慈善)will take almost anything — toys, clothing, candy, baby items— it’s not used. “These kids never get anything new.” John said, “It makes a big to them psychologically.”

If you think you are sick, you are sick no matter what says. , if you believe in your doctor, and if he tells that you are going to feel better, you probably will. The of the mind on the body does exist and sometimes can be powerful. It exists whether one is of it or not.

The doctor listened to her and gave her a very examination. Then he said to her, “ There is nothing wrong with you physically, but I accept the fact you don’t feel well. I’m going to give you some pills that should help. I want you to one after dinner and one half an hour you go to bed tonight. Call me tomorrow and tell me you feel.
Mrs. Green telephoned, “Doctor, I had the first night’s sleep in two months. What is in this pills ?” The doctor said, “It is an old formula(配方) I have for years. Just taking them for a week.” Turning to the nurse, he said, “It’s wonderful what a little baking soda(苏打) can do.”

She had been shopping with her Mom in Wal-Mart. She must have been 6 years old, this beautiful brown haired, freckle (雀斑)-faced image of innocence. It was outside, the kind of rain that spilt over the top of gutters (檐槽), so much in a hurry to the Earth.
We all there inside the door of the Wal-Mart. We all waited, some patient, others , because nature messed up their hurried day. I got lost in the sound and sight of the heavens away the dirt and dust of the world. Memories of running and splashing so carefree as a child came pouring in as a welcome from the worries of my day.
Her voice was so sweet as it the depressing atmosphere. “Mom,let’s run through the rain,”she said.
“What?”Mom asked.
“Let’s run through the rain!”She repeated.
“No, honey. We’ll wait until it down a bit.”Mom replied.
The young child waited another minute and repeated: “Mom, let’s run through the rain.”
“We’ll get wet through if we do.”Mom said.“No, we won’t, Mom. That’s not what you said this morning.” The young girl said as she at her Mom’s arm, “Don’t you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer, you said, if God can get us through this, he can get us through !”
The entire crowd stopped dead .No one came or left in the next few minutes. Mom and thought for a while about what she would say.
Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly. Some might even ignore what was said. But this was a moment of affirmation (肯定) in a young child’s life,a time when trust could be nurtured (培育) so that it would bloom into .“Honey, you are right.Let’s run through the rain. If we get wet, maybe we just need washing.”Mom said. Then off they ran.We all stood watching, smiling as they ran past the cars. They held their shopping bags over their heads just in case. Soon they were by a few who screamed and laughed like children all the way to their cars. And yes, I did. I ran. I got wet. I needed washing.

Someone who deeply impressed you may have appeared in your life for just a few minutes.
To celebrate my 10th birthday, I invited some friends to a fast food restaurant. We hamburgers and Coca Cola at the counter. When our came, I started walking towards a(n) table. By bad luck, my purse strap(带子)got on a chair and the tray(托盘) that I was holding slipped from my hands and went flying in the air. The tray, and its contents, on a man who was just about to a bite of his sandwich. I stared, greatly , as the drinks wet his white shirt badly.
Then I closed my eyes and prepared myself for his burst of . Instead, he said, “ It’s OK” to comfort me before he disappeared into the washroom.
Still shaky and what to do next, my friends and I went to a table and sat there, trying our best to look . A moment later, the man came out of the washroom and our table. My heart almost stopped beating. I thought he was going to ask for my father’s and call him.
To my surprise, he smiled at us, handed us some cash and said, “Buy yourself new hamburgers.” He then walked away without even finishing his food.
He could have made what was already an uncomfortable situation worse, but he chose a different way and gave us a reason to believe that there is still in this world. I’ll never forget his actions.
